The primary role of the Business Relationship Manager is to establish and maintain a strategic partnership between technology and business teams which results in optimal delivery of IT deliverables. The individual in this role will drive forward the business and tech strategic goals and oversee transformative projects and foster collaboration across teams and business stakeholders. The director grows business segment relationships by delivering attentive, relationship-based support on specific strategic technology related projects, initiatives, and services and a general awareness of entire program/portfolio This leader takes accountability on behalf of the technology team to drive action and resolve problems for the business.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serves as primary liaison between business segment contract leaders, and technology in close partnership with the product owner team and escalation point for complex issues, problems and solutions
  • Delivers superior relationship management utilizing a high-touch, client centric approach focused on collaboration and communication
  • Serves as a consultant in strategic planning with assigned business partners, leveraging expertise and understanding of technological competencies to provide analysis and recommendations
  • Monitors financials to ensure budget compliance, identifies variances, and advises business and technology leaders; explore savings opportunities in non-capital spending (O&M Labor and Infrastructure costs)
  • Ensures the business and tech strategies stay aligned; bridging the gap between strategic planning and execution; helping our tech team stay agile and responsive
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in assigned business/contract area and associated IT capabilities that support assigned area
  • Coordinates nonstandard technology requests, information requests, etc.
  • Drive a quality culture by example, encouraging quality practices in others

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in internal or external customer engagement and managing customer expectations and feedback
  • 5+ years of experience working in an information technology organization
  • 2+ years of experience working with a budgeting/forecasting process, including capital planning
  • United States Citizenship
  • If you are offered this position, you will be required to provide extensive personal information to obtain and maintain a suitability or determination of eligibility for a Confidential/Secret or Top Secret security clearance as a condition of your employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience working with matrixed teams/team members
  • 2+ years of experience with scorecards, dashboards, service level agreements, key performance metrics, and other standard business measures
  • 2+ years of experience with consultative and/or client facing skills 
  • 2+ years of experience driving, influencing, and delivering on identified service or infrastructure improvements that will meet business needs

As a requirement of UnitedHealth Group’s contract with the Department of Defense, this position requires U.S. citizenship and proof of favorable adjudication following submission of Department of Defense eQuip Form SF86, (the National Agency Check Legal and Credit or NACLC). Successful completion of the NACLC process is a requirement for continued employment in this role. NACLC processing will be initiated by our TRICARE Security Officer post-offer and can take 3-6 months for a final decision communication from the Department of Defense. Candidates will be allowed to begin employment with UnitedHealth Group in this role based on an interim clearance, and final results will be communicated as they are received. Failure to obtain final NACLC approval will result in termination from this role.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $89,900 to $160,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
