The Director of Capability role is critical for leading cross-functional program implementation from intake to design, deployment, and change management. It involves various initiatives such as call center consolidation & lift-and-land (Optum MTW), clinical platform modernization, training and readiness programs (Epic migration training, job aid development), Telephony & IVR enhancements (West Telephony migration, patient scheduling Bot), call obviation projects such as 25 in 25, and ops integrations into ECS. The role governs portfolio planning, prioritization, and execution of new initiatives, while driving change management & client relationship.
You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic planning and direction
- Serve as a strategic thought partner and resource to senior leadership, contributing to ECS Operations planning and decision-making
- Identify and develop pioneering strategies to address challenges and opportunities to improve customer experience and the efficiency and efficacy of operations
- Influence senior stakeholders to adopt innovative approaches, tools, and frameworks
- Drive operational performance and initiatives
- Formulate actionable insights and articulate findings to senior leadership across multiple lines of business, while exposing assumptions and validation work in an easily understandable and consistent manner
- Assess viability of programs/business cases and pressure-test the impact on business strategy. Recommend best implementation path across our business partners
- Develop and execute strategies based on business strategy awareness, market needs and managing capability(s) related to cost/benefit, business value, and service targets
- Drive capability vision and manage complex projects end to end such as:
- Partner with stakeholders to enable successful prioritization, development, delivery, and adoption of capabilities
- Manage ongoing capability performance, expansion, financial health, roadmap and lifecycle decisions
- Serve as a capability champion and apply deep expertise to credibly represent, manage and engage with business(es)

Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years in strategic operations, healthcare operations leadership, or health care administration
- Experience driving change across diverse stakeholder groups
- Demonstrated ability to manage several projects and stakeholder relationships
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional initiatives from design to implementations (e.g., clinical platform modernization, Telephony & IVR enhancements, Ops design and process optimization)
- Demonstrated systems thinking and can readily identify downstream impacts of decisions and proactively construe alternatives
- Proven resourceful in effectively navigating the organization, managing multiple cross-organizational and external relationships
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with portfolio management, prioritization frameworks, and strategic planning
- Proven solid analytical and conceptual thinking skills
- Proven excellent communication and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex and ambiguous problems and develop innovative solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of the organization

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $132,200 to $226,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
