The Business Information Security Officer (BISO) is responsible for serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for information security across the Optum Rx Pharmacies. This role will work directly with Pharmacy and Technology teams to implement new technology solutions and ensure alignment with enterprise security standards.

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with businesses partner associates across Optum to integrate them into risk prioritized cyber security processes and controls
  • Participate in security incident response processes on a per-occurrence basis
  • Serve as a point of contact for Enterprise Security policy and process issues and escalations
  • Drive major programs or change initiatives aimed at improving pharmacy security programs and line of business security maturity
  • Develop metrics and measures to communicate to senior management on risk management concepts, as well as specific project risks and risk mitigation options/scenarios
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the business, our patients and healthcare-delivery models. This understanding includes key systems, key contacts, priorities and concerns within the business and IT
  • Maintain current knowledge on information security topics and their applicability to the enterprise and the healthcare industry
  • Support security architecture reviews around innovative technology delivery models such as Operational Technology (OT) Security, IoT Security, AI, private and public cloud

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or 8+ years of experience in information security / technology operations in lieu of a degree
  • 5+ years of information security / technology leadership experience (including people management)
  • Extensive experience in OT (Operational Technology) and IoT security
  • Extensive experience in leading large scale security change initiatives in a highly matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated experience explaining complex security issues to both technical and non-technical leaders, through both written executive communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Security+, CISSP, CISM, or CISA certification
  • Experience working in a large enterprise
  • Experience in the Healthcare / Insurance industries
  • Experience supporting Pharmacy business models
  • Experience with modern application development and design
  • In depth knowledge of cloud / security architecture

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $156,400 to $268,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
