The Technical Product Manager (TPM) supports the delivery of technology capabilities that enable Optum’s Payment Integrity products – ensuring our platforms operate efficiently, scale reliably, and deliver value across the healthcare ecosystem. You’ll collaborate with product, engineering, and QA partners to translate business and user requirements into clear technical deliverables – ensuring that enhancements are delivered efficiently, reliably, and with measurable impact.

This role plays a critical part in the success of Agile delivery teams, bridging strategy and execution to ensure technical solutions align with user needs and business outcomes.

For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Translate product requirements into detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications
  • Own delivery outcomes for assigned features or capabilities, ensuring they meet defined quality and performance goals
  • Work closely with developers and QA engineers to ensure shared understanding of scope and design intent
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives
  • Monitor progress across delivery sprints and proactively address blockers and dependencies
  • Partner with Product Managers to ensure technical solutions align with business requirements and user needs
  • Support release testing, deployment, and early adoption tracking
  • Maintain clear documentation and contribute to process improvements that enhance delivery quality and predictability

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in technical product management, product development, or technology delivery
  • 3+ years of experience defining requirements, writing user stories, and managing Agile backlogs
  • 1+ years of experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies
  • 1+ years of experience using tools such as Jira, Rally, or Azure DevOps for backlog management
  • Proven solid analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Proven excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with cloud-based application development, APIs, and automation or microservice architectures
  • Experience in healthcare, analytics, or payment integrity systems
  • Solid technical documentation and process improvement skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $89,900 to $160,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
