Reporting to and partnering with the E&I Operating Expense Management Director, the E&I Operating Expense Management Senior Financial Consultant/Manager will play a critical role in developing and implementing the strategy for E&I operating expense management. As a member of the finance team, the position will lead key financial administration, business planning, and budgeting associated with operating expense. The Senior Financial Consultant/Manager role will be an advisor, evaluating and assisting with financial plans and economic modeling. The role will also be responsible for overseeing staff and be involved in strategic planning, evaluation, and professional development of employees.
Primary Responsibilities:
Strategy
- As a true business partner to the UHC E&I Operating Expense Management Director and UHC E&I Operating Expense Vice President will be responsible to, assess various E&I organizations and intersegment partner relationships performance against the annual budget, forecast, and long-term strategy
- Develop tools and processes to provide critical financial and operational information to Senior Management and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations
- Engage with internal affiliates, business partners, outside consultants and investment committees
- Oversee budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with company and segment strategic plan
- Provide recommendations to Senior Management based on financial analysis and projections
Financial and Operational Management
- Oversee all Operating Expense Intersegment Forecasting & Budgeting for the Employer and Individual segment, Insuring SG&A accuracy of the Budget, forecasts, and present financial narratives and metrics for both internal and external constituents
- Develop and produce critical models and analysis that serves as a decision tool for Senior Leadership to make informed business decisions
- Partner with multiple business leaders as the finance lead and liaison
- Develop and maintain internal cost allocation models and processes to facilitate profitability information and targets, support critical models and analysis, and support external fillings, reporting, and audits
Team Management
- Mentor and develop team members, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and the building of an effective team dynamic
- Guide larger, cross-divisional teams outside of direct span of control within E&I

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or Business
- 3+ years of broad finance experience, comprised of both accounting and financial planning
- Experience gathering and evaluating financial information and making actionable recommendations to senior leadership
- Experience managing the finance function (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting) within a diverse, division-based entity
- Demonstrable passion for UHG; a hands-on manager with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic environment
- Mature and proactive, with evidence of having worked as a true business partner to the CFO, VP’s, and Director’s of a multi-divisional organization
- Solid analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model
- Experience successfully partnering with multiple professional disciplines to manage critical financial management systems
- An effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with solid oral and written skills and a willingness to share information
- A collaborative and flexible style, with a solid service mentality
- Creativity, with experience implementing critical activities in ways that both generate operating improvements and efficiencies
Preferred Qualifications:
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $89,900 to $160,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
