This role is part of the Financial Data Management Accounting Support team within UHC Finance Controllership. We partner closely with the teams we support to intake, prioritize, and deliver process automation solutions and ad-hoc data analysis for activities related to financial close, audits, and reporting requirements. In addition, we maintain responsibility for ongoing monitoring, maintenance, and overall support of the processes we create. Our team primarily works in SAS Enterprise Guide, with additional processes built in SQL Server Management Studio and VBA within Microsoft products.
You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and develop processes using SQL and other programming tools to analyze, adjust, and report on Accounting & Controls data (primarily Capitation)
- Create automated processes such as reporting, journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis to support financial close
- Develop innovative approaches to improve efficiency and accuracy of accounting processes
- Gather and document project requirements from business partners
- Test and validate new business processes and data stores
- Perform detailed analysis and resolve process or data issues
- Document and maintain new and existing processes
- Configure system settings as needed
- Provide ad-hoc data analysis for financial close, audits, and reporting
- Serve as subject matter expert for assigned processes
- Collaborate with IT to resolve technical issues
- Manage multiple projects with varying deadlines while maintaining accuracy and timeliness

Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, finance, data analytics, or process automation roles
- 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, conditional formatting, and complex formulas
- 2+ years of experience developing, troubleshooting, and optimizing SQL queries, including creating queries from scratch
- 2+ years of experience analyzing large, complex datasets to identify trends and anomalies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with SAS Enterprise Guide Application to create, maintain, and run SAS Code
- Experience with SmartView/Essbase reporting tool
- Experience creating and modifying VBA code for process automation
- Experience with SQL Server Management Studio Application
- Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau)
- Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms (Snowflake, Azure)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $58,800 to $105,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
