The Specialty Pharmacist conducts clinical reviews of medical data collected to perform drug utilization of specialty medications. Responsible for all aspects dispensing, patient advocacy, accreditation and clinical support, patient consultation, medication therapy management, management of high-risk patients and complex drug therapies.  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise day-to-day operations of Specialty Pharmacy staff and ensure compliance with specialty accreditation standards (URAC, ACHC) and policies
  • Oversee pharmacy processes for complex, high-cost, and specialty medications, ensuring safe, appropriate, and cost-effective therapies
  • Verify prescriptions, resolve discrepancies, monitor drug interactions, and maintain accurate patient profiles
  • Communicate effectively with providers and patients; provide counseling and education on specialty medications
  • Manage documentation for drug preparation, delivery, inventory, and adverse events; ensure adherence to HIPAA and safety standards
  • Lead and develop pharmacy team members through coaching, feedback, and training; act as Pharmacist in Charge when needed
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives and contribute to specialty pharmacy growth and performance
  • Maintain proficiency in Epic EMR, dispensing systems, and Microsoft Office; cover main pharmacy bench as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned, modeling service excellence and supporting organizational initiatives

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy (PharmD or BS in Pharmacy)  
  • Active, unrestricted Massachusetts pharmacist license 
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) 

     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (may be required based on specialty)
  • 3+ years of experience in high volume retail pharmacy  
  • Experience in a specialty pharmacy  

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $43.22 to $77.21 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
