The Clinical Admin Nurse Consultant is responsible for clinical oversight, training, and compliance for wound ostomy therapy (for RNs LVNs/LPNs) in all markets. This position will assist with the integration of clinical practice guidelines to ensure policy and procedures are being followed based on the practice standards of RNs LVNs/LPNs as they relate to clinic compliance and competencies.
This position will be responsible for compliance related training, impacting quality improvement efforts, and championing activities impacting achievement of clinical and healthcare outcomes. Participates in market leadership discussions regarding clinical competency and participates in the development of reference and resource materials. The success of this position requires the ability to foster communication and teamwork between market management team and senior leadership.
The Clin Admin Nurse Consultant will identify and develop and facilitate training for RNs, LVNs/LPNs on clinical competencies, standards of care, and translate complex nuances into easy-to-understand terms. Leads new applications and approaches for activities related to clinical competency.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serves as subject matter expert on clinical practices to impact compliance on wound ostomy therapy. Keeps up-to-date on national and state compliance protocols and suggests changes to documentation. Collaborates with market providers to recommend policies, protocols, procedures, and standards which affect the care of patients receiving wound ostomy care
- Coordinates auditing of patent charts to ensure proper documentation. Analyzes results and prepares findings for upper level management and executive review
- Identifies training needs on wound ostomy therapy, develops, and facilitates training to RNs/LPNs. Provide training to new hires or existing staff, or may provide one-one training to staff as needed. May involve travel
- Attend leadership meetings. Attend nurse forums, meetings, or in-service to include providing training and facilitate roundtable discussions.
- Infrequently, on an ad-hoc basis, will visit patient home to evaluate difficult wound
- Maintain RN licensure

Required Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with a current unrestricted license
- 5+ years of RN experience in a physician’s office, clinical, community setting, hospice or hospital setting
- Experience in mentoring/training others
- Proficient knowledge of wound ostomy care and wound ostomy management
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
- Proven excellent verbal and written skills
- Proven excellent organizational and prioritization skills
- Access to reliable transportation that will enable you to travel to client and/or patient sites within a designated area
- Willing or ability to occasional travel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Wound care/ostomy certification
- Current driver’s license
- 2+ years of community health/home health experience
Physical & Mental Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to use fine motor skills to operate office equipment and/or machinery
- Ability to properly drive and operate a company vehicle
- Ability to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and/or in writing
- Ability to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving
The salary range for this role is $71,600 to $140,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
