As an Associate Director at UnitedHealth Group, you can do just that. You’ll be part of the Actuarial Data, Tools, & Studies team that serves our Employer & Individual Markets.  You will lead complex actuarial projects that have strategic importance to our mission of helping people lead healthier lives and helping to make the health system work better for everyone. You will be evaluating the pricing of new, innovative products and programs and delivering your insights to leadership across both actuarial and non-actuarial functions.  It’s an opportunity to help rewrite the future of UnitedHealth Group as you participate in the development of business strategy.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret quantitative data to deliver pricing guidance on commercial group premium rate development. Examples include: Tiered benefit modeling, non-standard benefit coverage pricing, manual rate factor development, etc.
  • Provide expertise to support pricing and guidance to traditional or nontraditional product designs and/or pilot programs
  • Shape, construct and communicate high quality and effective solutions to business partners that meet external/internal customer expectations and regulatory obligations
  • Educate and instruct actuarial pricing and other business partners
  • Collaborate and communicate insight, feedback, guidance, solutions, or issues with business impact
  • Produce and review reports and/or interpret information across states and departments as required
  • Develop proficiencies with data systems, data processes, and data technology to support business needs

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years actuarial and/or modeling experience 
  • Proficient in SAS (Statistical Analysis System), SQL (Structured Query Language), R and / or Python

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designation
  • Experience working in health care industry
  • Experience with commercial group or individual actuarial pricing

The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
