Primary Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Producing Line-of-Business claim lag triangles used by the actuaries and reserving teams during month end close. These reports are critical to the actuarial process of estimating the monthly IBNR reserve
- Managing the RPS package structure that supports the above stated needs, ensuring all GL data is mapped to an RPS package for assigned market. Researching and mapping new GL strings
- Function as an accountant subject matter expert (SME) on selected UHC claim platforms by developing an understanding of the systematic processing of Claim Financial Data from upstream source systems through and to downstream sources, to support additional accounting needs
- Perform SOX controls, cash clearing account reconciliations and detailed data analysis on the claim platforms supported as a SME
- Reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close
- Overseeing accounting controls necessary to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the data used in the reserving process
- Ability to work with accounting and/or financial systems for ledger queries, reconciliations and journaling
- Develop innovative approaches for continued improvement in efficiency and effectiveness
- Produce ad hoc reports for internal customers
- Ensure critical processing and control issues are resolved in a timely manner for both incoming source system feeds and downstream outputs
- Provide Customer Support from a Processing and/or Financial Perspective
- Promote financial data integrity, compliance and auditability of the financial systems
- Support the interim and end of year claim audit process

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with coursework in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience
- 1+ years of professional work experience
- Intermediate level experience in Microsoft Excel
- Proven ability to anticipate customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them
- Proven high ethical standards
- Proven excellent analytical skills and demonstrated ability to enhance processes
- Proven track record of delivering high quality results
- Proven ability to internalize, interpret and document complex scenarios clearly and concisely

- Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills with attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience or coursework with SAS, SQL, VBA programming languages
- Experience within a complex working environment with various hierarchical commitments
- Exposure to PeopleSoft or Essbase/SmartView
- Experience in analyzing large amounts of data

The salary range for this role is $49,300 to $96,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
