Billing Representatives are responsible for ongoing account maintenance, data entry of enrollment applications, review and reconciliation of premium billing invoices and provide superior customer service to internal/external clients. Be a resource to Management by being able to find and implement solutions to assist team members as well as mentor peers.

This position is full time, Monday – Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm within their own time zone. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Employees are required to work some days onsite and some days from home.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs all tasks of a Billing Representative or Customer Service Representative
  • Based on department needs, monitors one of the following: back-end operations or functions, front end operations or functions, and/or daily production tracking, for coverage, quality, and reports
  • Trains employees and completes other trainings throughout the year
  • Communicates with superiors, peers, employees, internal and external customers, and others, as appropriate, on regular basis, assuring proper flow of information
  • Assists in documenting standard operating procedures and business rules for the department.
  • Assists in resolving problems relating to all areas of Patient/Third Party billings and missing information
  • Develops recommendations for corrective actions based on production and quality issues
  • Responds to escalated issues to assure the appropriate action for resolution occurs
  • Provides input and guidance to staff members to ensure continuous improvement in processes
  • Facilitates individual and small group meetings
  • Maintains current knowledge of billing requirements and system practices

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • 1+ years of experience in external payment applications
  • 1+ years of external (not medical) billing experience (reviewing billing data, reviewing statuses of accounts and resolving discrepancies, and reconciling accounts)
  • Ability to use computer and Windows PC applications, which includes keyboard and navigation skills and ability to learn new computer programs 
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel (creating and editing spreadsheets including entering data, formatting cells, formulas, using editing tools, sorting and filtering data)
  • Presently employed within UHC Operations & Experience. Those currently employed outside that unit will not be considered.   • Ability to work full time, Monday – Friday. Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in external (not medical) billing experience (reviewing billing data, reviewing statuses of accounts and resolving discrepancies, and reconciling accounts)
  • 3 + years of experience in external payment application
  • Work experience in a fast-paced environment requiring strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
  • More advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP’s and Pivot Tables
  • Experience with Account Reconciliation
  • Experience with COBRA EAS (Employee Assistance System)

                    

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Reside within commutable distance to the office at 125 S 84Th Street, Milwaukee, 53214
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.

The hourly range for this role is $16.88 to $33.22 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
