We’re seeking a strategy minded and execution-oriented Director of Flagship App and Web Product Development to lead the development and delivery of our core digital consumer experiences at Optum. This role will drive cross-functional alignment, ensure high-quality execution, and help shape the future of our flagship mobile and web platforms. 
 

You will be accountable for the timely, efficient, and high-impact delivery of consumer-facing digital products that reach millions of users. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with deep experience in product delivery, agile methodologies, and digital product innovation, with extensive background in developing features for consumer facing applications. You will play a key role in driving integrated consumer digital experiences at Optum, leading teams in aligning and consolidating our distributed web and app experiences into centralized platforms.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end product development and delivery for flagship mobile app and web platforms, ensuring alignment across Product, Engineering, Design, and Business stakeholders
  • Lead, develop, and coach a high-performing team of product owners and product managers, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement to drive strategic digital product outcomes
  • Drive the planning, prioritization, and execution of the product roadmap in close collaboration with key stakeholders and cross-functional partners to deliver impactful outcomes
  • Partner closely with cross business product teams to support a centralized Optum app and web strategy, influencing roadmaps and backlogs across UHG teams
  • Analyze data, develop strategies and write business cases, all in support of new product development
  • Work closely with CX and research teams to gather insights, identify user pain points and translate findings into actionable product enhancements that improve user satisfaction and engagement for Optum Consumers
  • Collaborate with UX/UI team to develop intuitive features and app interfaces
  • Partner with Engineering to ensure technical feasibility, architectural integrity, and scalability
  • Mitigate delivery risks and resolve blockers proactively to ensure your teams can maintain momentum
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and collaboration across all levels of the product delivery organization
  • Monitor and report on key delivery metrics and KPIs to inform strategic decisions and improve quality
  • Stay up to date on emerging trends and best practices in the healthcare and wellness space

Required Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience in Product Management with direct-to-consumer experiences 
  • 12+ years of experience working collaboratively with engineering and design teams
  • 8+ years of experience delivering mobile apps 
  • 8+ years of experience leading, hiring, managing, and developing product managers
  • Product experience of working with various digital technologies and technology stacks
  • Knowledge of mobile design trends and responsive web development
  • Understanding of mobile UX/UI best practices, SEO, analytics, and digital marketing principles
  • Proven excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities
  • Robust competency in leading product innovation and raising the quality bar

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth leadership experience in product management, strategy development, and writing business cases for mobile apps
  • Strategic and tactical experience designing, building, and delivering products & services
  • Proven ability to drive alignment across senior executives, business leads and technical leads
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality, innovative consumer experiences at scale

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $132,200 to $226,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
