JOB TITLE: Senior Manager, Software Engineering
LOCATION: 1 Optum Circle, Eden Prairie, MN 55344 (Telecommuting available from anywhere in the U.S.)
DUTIES: Plan, initiate, and manage information technology (IT) projects. Duties include: lead and guide the work of technical staff; serve as liaison between business and technical aspects of projects; Provide an ongoing dialogue between employees that links expectations, development planning, appraisals, and ongoing feedback; perform overall end-to-end program software delivery; conduct and facilitate the timely production of quality software; develop, implement, and mature software engineering policies, standards, and procedures; create and contribute to a positive and healthy team culture; perform supporting legacy conventional platform programs; establish accurate and timely estimates for tasks; provide support in critical production support issue resolution; support the team for application availability, reliability and stability; support and participate in root cause analysis on all in-scope incidents and recommend a corrective action plan; work with the team to achieve timely resolution of all production issues meeting or exceeding Service Level Agreements; perform peer code reviews to ensure the work delivered by the team is of high quality standards; collaborate to prioritize production issue resolution; and work with the Service Manager in process improvement initiatives as directed by the service. REQUIREMENTS: Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field and completion of a university-level course, research project, internship, or thesis or one year of experience involving each of the following:
• Leading and managing software engineering teams;
• Software development methodologies such as Agile, DevOps, Waterfall, Lean, or Hybrid Models;
• Programming languages such as Java, Groovy, C++, or JavaScript;
• Automation script development using Selenium and Cucumber frameworks;
• Software architecture principles and design patterns such as Scalability, Modularity, Reslience, Layered architecture, Microservices, or Event Driven Architecure;
• Managing large-scale software projects and delivering high-quality software solutions;
• Agile and DevOps practices with experience in implementing and driving continuous improvement;
• REST API standards and methodology;
• Managing software development lifecycle; and
• Software security and data privacy principles.
Alternatively, Employer will also accept no degree and two years of experience in the job offered or a software engineering related occupation. Position requires two (2) years experience in the following:
• Leading and managing software engineering teams;
• Software development methodologies such as Agile, DevOps, Waterfall, Lean, or Hybrid Models;
• Programming languages such as Java, Groovy, C++, or JavaScript;
• Automation script development using Selenium and Cucumber frameworks;
• Software architecture principles and design patterns such as Scalability, Modularity, Reslience, Layered architecture, Microservices, or Event Driven Architecure;
• Managing large-scale software projects and delivering high-quality software solutions;
• Agile and DevOps practices with experience in implementing and driving continuous improvement;
• REST API standards and methodology;
• Managing software development lifecycle; and
• Software security and data privacy principles.
RATE OF PAY: $119,480 – $203,737 / per year
