The role is to oversee and manage day-to-day operations and month close activities for Financial Data Management (FDM) and Accounting Support & Production Operation (ASPO) teams. The role requires to demonstrate sound knowledge of financial data integration to GL and non-GL sources.  It includes technical knowledge to learn and implement basic query writing in SQL in SAS environment. This role is accountable for variances analysis between upstream data sources with general ledger and provide root cause analysis for impacted P&L accounts for UHC legal entities and claim accounting applications. It extends to SOX audit supports for financial data integration from upstream interfaces to General ledger. The role involves monthly accounting and balance sheet account reconciliation for claim clearing accounts, and to identify/drive projects and independently handle assigned projects.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and month close activities for FDM ASPO processes
  • Team management responsibilities & performance management
  • Oversees/coaches/trains team in how to analyze financial results, trends, performance metrics, variances, and root cause analyses.
  • Identifies/researches variances and provides appropriate explanations.
  • Demonstrates solid knowledge of GL and sub-GL data sources, and how the information is recorded (e.g., chart of accounts, revenues, expenses, claim costs etc.,)
  • Demonstrates basic understanding of how to retrieve data from company-specific financial systems and use reporting tools (e.g., Smart-view, SAS)
  • Should be able to learn and implement basic query writing in SAS & SQL environment
  • Blackline Account reconciliation and flux analysis
  • Preparation of internal and external audit support documentation
  • Demonstrates basic understanding of various data models and platforms
  • Engaging in various claims/sub ledger system projects
  • Solid analytics skill and variance analysis on root cause of the discrepancy between Subledger & PSGL
  • Demonstrates basic understanding of where and how to obtain needed information

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Masters in Accounting or equivalent courses
  • 8+ years of General Accounting & Analysis experience
  • Skills:
    • End user experience in Access database
    • Intermediate Proficiency in MS Excel, Access and SAS
    • Effective communication skills
    • Eye for detail & quick learning abilities
    • Collaborates with peers to complete projects

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Health care experience
  • Exposure to PeopleSoft, Oracle, Black line, Month end close knowledge
