The Network Contract Manager - Facility, helps develop the provider network of hospitals, ancillary entities and other facilities, yielding a geographically competitive, stable network with broad access, that achieves objectives for unit cost performance and trend management, and produces an affordable and predictable product for our customers, members and business partners. Network Contract Managers evaluate and negotiate contracts in compliance with company contract templates, reimbursement structure standards, and other key process controls. Responsibilities also include establishing and maintaining solid business relationships with Hospital or Ancillary providers.

This role is responsible for Facility contracting in our Mid-Atlantic region, which may encompass the states of VA, WV, MD and DC across all our business segments - E&I/IEX (Employer & Individual and Individual Exchange), M&R (Medicare & Retirement) and C&S (Community & State).  The role may include contracting with hospitals and health systems, ancillary and specialty providers as well as federally qualified health centers and/or rural health centers.

Required Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm EST

This position prefers candidates living in the Mid-Atlantic Region (MD, DC, WV or VA area).    

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate hospital, ancillary and other facility contracts for Mid-Atlantic market providers across Virginia, West Virginia, DC and Maryland
  • Synthesize data provided by our partners in Healthcare Economics to develop and plan provider contract renewal strategies
  • Regular engagement with assigned providers through meetings (in person and virtual) and regularly scheduled calls to discuss open items, ongoing issues, contractual concerns and/or operational issues
  • Help manage provider issues, leveraging our internal tools and business partners for assistance
  • Stay organized, ensuring we're meeting timelines associated with contract negotiation life cycle (i.e. provider briefing document preparation, strategy development, negotiation, execution)
  • Manage the lifecycle of the contract and maintain in our systems
  • Work independently with the support of leadership when necessary

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in the managed care industry
  • 2+ years of experience utilizing financial models and analysis in strategy development
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10-15% (w/in the mid-Atlantic territory)
  • Access to reliable transportation and valid US driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in negotiating rates with providers
  • 2+ years of experience performing network adequacy analysis
  • Knowledge of reimbursement methodologies
  • Knowledge of and prior experience in the healthcare and health insurance landscape
  • Experience with performance-based contracts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying complex or technical information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret complex information from others
  • Strong interpersonal skills, establishing rapport and working well with others
  • Strong customer service skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
