The Licensure Specialist is a critical member of the team that facilitates the licenses, prescriptive authority, controlled substances, and DEA approvals for cross state practitioners. The successful candidate should be detail oriented, with excellent communication skills and have working knowledge of state rules and regulations as it pertains to state licenses, DEAs, prescriptive authority, and controlled substances.
You will enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.
Hours: Ability to work normal business hours within your time zone such as 8:00am to 5:00pm
Primary Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end licensure process for practitioners; actively contributes in helping to meet and improve turn-around timelines for licensing
- Supports Optum's growth and expansion into new markets by obtaining the required state licenses, DEA, prescriptive authority, and or controlled substance certificate to practice in order to meet key deliverables
- Collaborates with the Credentialing team and provides updates on licenses so practitioners can be credentialed with the health plans
- Renew expiring licenses and certifications on behalf of and in cooperation with practitioners of select groups
- Facilitate payment for application and renewal fees according to accounting guidelines
- Maintain licensing database on pending requests; data entry required
- Observe Optum Health policies and procedures, client contract requirements, local state and federal rules and regulations
- Facilitate malpractice insurance applications and certificate updates for state specific funds where required
- Other administrative duties as determined
- Reports directly to the Manager, Licensure

Education and Experience:

- High school graduate or equivalent
- Previous licensing experience strongly preferred
- Windows-based computer skills

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- 1+ years of experience with MS Office
Preferred Qualifications:
- Database management experience
- Previous medical licensing experience
- Ability to obtain a notary license within 60 days of hire in your state with our assistance

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $20.38 to $36.44 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
