Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and enhance services that ingest, route, and process pharmacy claim transactions
  • Lead modernization of legacy claim-handling behaviors into scalable, cloud-native services
  • Drive architectural decisions that reduce reliance on legacy systems and enable long-term platform evolution
  • Lead implementation and extension of NCPDP F6 components, such as parsers, composers, and data dictionaries
  • Design and maintain version translation workflows (e.g., D.0 to F6) to support phased adoption where downstream systems are not yet fully F6 enabled
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure F6 changes are introduced safely without breaking financial, adjudication, or reporting flows
  • Remediate risks and vulnerabilities quickly, keeping the integrity of the system a top priority
  • Build and maintain APIs, services, and integration patterns that facilitate NCPDP F6 adoption by other systems
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, environment setup, and deployment automation to support frequent, safe releases
  • Lead design of testing strategies that validate claim behavior across legacy and modern paths
  • Ensure parity testing between legacy and modernized flows using automated comparison tools and controlled test harnesses
  • Support regression, integration, and performance testing to ensure correctness at scale and under peak transaction volumes
  • Ensure all changes are production-ready with appropriate test coverage and validation artifacts
  • Engineer services to meet high availability, resiliency, and fault-tolerance standards expected of a P1 platform
  • Implement robust monitoring, alerting, and logging to support operational visibility and rapid incident response
  • Participate in production issue resolution, root cause analysis, and remediation planning to continuously improve platform stability
  • Ensure auditability and traceability of claim transactions across key capture points for regulatory and support needs
  • Act as a technical lead within the team, setting standards for design quality, coding practices, and documentation
  • Mentor engineers working on modernization, NCPDP standards adoption, and distributed services
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, business SMEs, architects, and downstream system teams to align technical solutions with business and regulatory goals
  • Clearly communicate technical risks, dependencies, and design decisions to leadership and partner teams
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong hands on development responsibilities
  • 3+ years of experience designing and building distributed, service oriented or microservices based systems
  • Experience working with APIs, messaging, and integration patterns in high volume transactional systems
  • Experience modernizing legacy systems into cloud native or service based architectures
  • Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing, CI/CD, and code quality
  • Solid proficiency in Java and modern backend frameworks (eg, Spring Boot)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with healthcare, pharmacy, or claims processing systems
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS), containerization, and Kubernetes
  • Experience supporting mission critical, high availability platforms
  • Knowledge of observability tooling (logging, metrics, tracing) in distributed systems
  • Familiarity with NCPDP standards (F6, D.0, 5.1) or other healthcare data exchange standards
