Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain standard data acquisition connectors for FHIR and CommonWell to enable scalable ingestion for CrimsonAI
  • Define connector integration patterns (authentication, paging, incremental loads, error handling, retries) to ensure reliable and secure data ingestion
  • Perform source-to-target (S2T) schema mapping from upstream source formats to CrimsonAI canonical models; document mapping rules, assumptions, and transformations
  • Develop and maintain mapping logic and transformation pipelines (e.g., validation, normalization, enrichment, deduplication) to ensure data quality and usability
  • Build an interactive data schema visualizer to allow stakeholders to review acquisition specifications, understand relationships, and validate mapping completeness
  • Partner with product, engineering, and clinical/operational SMEs to gather requirements and confirm interpretation of FHIR resources and CommonWell payloads
  • Establish automated validation checks (schema conformance, required field completeness, referential integrity) and produce actionable error reports for remediation
  • Create and maintain technical documentation (connector specs, S2T mapping documents, API contracts, data dictionaries) and support knowledge transfer
  • Support end-to-end testing (unit, integration, performance) for connectors and mappings; triage defects and drive root-cause resolution
  • Monitor connector performance and ingestion health; implement observability (logging, metrics, alerting) and continuous improvements
  • Ensure compliance with security and privacy requirements for data in transit and at rest, including appropriate access controls and audit logging
  • Contribute to release planning and delivery execution to meet CrimsonAI implementation timelines
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, integration engineering, interoperability, or building data ingestion pipelines/platform capabilities
  • Hands-on experience building and supporting API-based data integrations, including authentication (OAuth2/SMART on FHIR preferred), rate limiting, pagination, and retries
  • Experience with healthcare interoperability frameworks and networks (CommonWell experience; TEFCA/QHIN exposure)
  • Proven experience performing source-to-target (S2T) mapping and translating source schemas to canonical/target data models
  • Experience with data quality validation techniques (schema conformance, completeness, referential integrity) and building automated checks
  • Solid working knowledge of HL7 FHIR fundamentals (resources, bundles, profiles, terminology bindings) and experience integrating FHIR-based data feeds
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language used for integrations (e.g., Python, Java) and comfort working with JSON and REST APIs
  • Proven solid SQL skills and experience with data transformation/ETL/ELT patterns (batch and/or streaming)
  • Proven solid documentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex mappings and integration behavior to technical and non-technical stakeholders
