We are seeking a Systems Management Consultant to join the Optum Software Provisioning Operations team. This role serves as a technical and operational contributor, responsible not only for software deployment execution but also for driving operational excellence, mentoring team members, and influencing systems management strategy.


The Systems Management Consultant operates with a higher degree of autonomy, partners closely with stakeholders, and applies deep technical expertise to improve tooling, processes, and outcomes across software provisioning operations.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support enterprise scale software provisioning operations, including application and security patch deployments
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for systems management tooling, deployment strategies, and troubleshooting
  • Analyze complex or systemic deployment issues and drive sustainable solutions
  • Monitor and interpret systems management KPIs and metrics, identifying trends and improvement opportunities
  • Partner with stakeholders to assess operational risks, deployment readiness, and impact
  • Contribute to and influence operational roadmaps, standards, and best practices
  • Develop and maintain high quality operational, technical, and project documentation
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to analysts and team members
  • Support cross team initiatives and consult on systems management related projects
  • Perform additional duties as required to support business and operational goals
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in workstation software and security patch management, deployment, troubleshooting, and systems analysis
  • 5+ years of experience with enterprise systems management tools such as MECM and/or Altiris
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and improving systems management KPIs and operational performance
  • Proven solid analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex environments and make informed recommendations
  • Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence and consult with stakeholders
  • Proven ability to consider risks, alternatives, and downstream impacts when making decisions
  • Proven solid customer service orientation and experience supporting enterprise operations


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Software packaging and deployment optimization experience
  • Project planning or delivery experience
  • Experience leading operational improvements or mentoring technical staff
  • Experience operating in large, complex enterprise workstation environments
