The Dedicated Health Engagement Consultant provides year-round strategic consultative services with an integrated focus on the UnitedHealthcare Value Story by diving deep into population health, clinical/wellness data, health engagement, experience and decision making to further support UnitedHealth Group's position as a trusted advisor and carrier of choice. The Health Engagement Consultant ensures representation of the customer to United Healthcare and develops and manages engagement strategies and activities in supporting the needs of the client.  The Consultant collaborates directly with the customer, designated wellness champions, wellbeing/health engagement committees as well as the UnitedHealthcare account management and all other carriers.

The role requires approximately 50% travel throughout Maryland to support various state agencies and client locations. If you are located in District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Consult with and advises sales and account executives, UnitedHealthcare customers and their representatives in health engagement and health/wellbeing product selection, program design, communications and outcome measurement to meet specific customer needs
  • Develop and foster relationships across highly matrixed organization at all levels of leadership to ensure alignment on priorities and goals, both on mutual clients and enterprise initiatives
  • Consult with customer and/or broker consultants to interpret population health, clinical/wellness data, health engagement, experience and decision making to create, develop and recommend health engagement strategies, along with sales executives and account managers
  • Facilitate identification and/or development of customer's health engagement, health and wellbeing needs and goals, assessment of current programs and development of customer specific, data driven, long term strategic health engagement, health and wellbeing programs and strategic plans with focus on results
  • Thoroughly research, identify and promote community and other resources and activities that align with the customer's needs
  • Collaborate with clinical leaders across UnitedHealth Group to ensure clinical services meet the needs of United Healthcare customers, especially in reducing medical costs and increasing value to those customers
  • Perform data analysis from multiple sources and interpretation of customer specific population health, clinical/wellness data, health engagement, member experience and decision making. Synthesize information to develop and present customer specific health engagement strategies and support the sales process especially around clinical, health, wellbeing and member experience value story
  • Serves as population health, health engagement, health and wellbeing expert in supporting pre-RFP presentations, RFP bid process and finalist meetings to current and prospective customers. Produces effective presentations by tailoring to the audience
  • Develop and maintain market-based health engagement, health and wellbeing tools and programs that are "turnkey" for sales and account management to implement with customers
  • Must stay abreast of current health promotion, disease prevention, and community development trends for proper delivery
  • Offer training to UHC Account Management Teams on Wellness Capabilities, Maximizing Engagement, Wellness Value Story, as well as other health and wellness topics
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of enterprise-wide capabilities, products, and tools to meet customer-specific consultative health engagement needs
  • Deeply involved in the development and continuous improvement of consultative health engagement value story, including providing feedback, suggestions, and solutions
  • Serves as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert to internal and external customers, including senior leaders, on health engagement strategies and programs to maximize member and employer health outcomes and demonstrate the integrated value of UnitedHealth Group products and services

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 + years of experience in managed care preferred, with significant program management experience
  • 3+ years in client facing role, preferably within health care, health care sales, account management, TPA, or consulting environment
  • Present as a knowledgeable and credible resource with solid knowledge of clinical, health and wellbeing programs and health engagement strategies. Establish trust with all levels of stakeholder groups. Experience presenting at a director level or higher
  • Proven excellent analytical and problem resolution skills
  • Proven effective interpersonal skills, influence, collaboration, and listening skills in understanding customer needs
  • Proven beginner or Intermediate skills within Office 365 applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Reside within the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Nursing, CHES or other clinical licensure and clinical practices experience in a clinical role are
  • Clear and concise written & verbal communication skills; successful virtual presentation experience
  • Solid familiarity with disease management / condition management programs

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
