The Charge Entry Rep is responsible for posting all office and hospital charges to patient accounts after checking for completeness and accuracy. The Charge Entry Rep has knowledge of ICD10, CPT coding, and Medical Insurance fundamentals and has solid data entry skills.
This position is full-time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00 am - 6:00 pm EST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.
We offer 2 - 4 weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of training will be aligned with your schedule.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Works independently, takes initiative in completing assignments
- Assists co-workers whenever possible to achieve office goals
- Understands and follows established guidelines pertaining to charge entry
- Checks appointments with no charges daily to ensure that all charges for have been entered
- Runs audit reports each day and makes necessary corrections
- Demonstrates proficiency in posting procedures performed for the session into the patient account in the computer, using ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines established by the Practice to ensure accurate reimbursement
- Works with a sense of urgency with regard to assigned work
- Reports weekly on Provider Submission status to Supervisors
- Attends all appropriate staff meetings and training sessions as required
- Interacts on a daily basis with Physicians and interdepartmental staff

- Communication- Communicates clearly and effectively both orally and written. Demonstrates active listening and respect for other's ideas, problems, and suggestions. Responds in a prompt and friendly manner to requests and inquiries. Respects confidentiality and is HIPAA compliant in all aspects of communication regarding patients, employees and the organization. Utilizes C.L.E.A.R. and H.E.A.R.T

- Customer/Patient Focus- Knows the customer (internal and external) business needs and acts accordingly. Provides consistent, quality service to all patients and customers

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED or equivalent work experience
- Must be 18 years of age OR older
- 1+ years of coding, billing, and/or charge entry experience in the healthcare field
- Experience in a medical office
- Knowledge of ICD10, CPT, HCPCS
- Ability to work full-time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00 am - 6:00 pm EST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPC
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Insurance claims experience
- Experience with EPIC
Telecommuting Requirements:
- Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
- Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.
- Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The hourly pay for this role will range from $18 - $32 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
