This individual will report to the Optum Health Healthcare Economics (HCE) VP and serve as a key HCE leader within the Optum Health Ireland team. This role will be instrumental in executing against the Optum Health Ireland HCE priorities. The emphasis for this position is on analytics, data science, statistics, and program design, managing complex analytical projects and portfolios. The ideal candidate will have solid stakeholder management experience, along with proven ability to manage engineering teams developing scalable analytics solutions.
Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin or Letterkenny office and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.
What you will do:
- Work with stakeholders to refine business priorities roadmap and high-level business requirements; presenting at weekly and monthly executive steering committee meetings; working with stakeholders to deliver business solutions, drive change, and resolve any roadblocks
- Provide insight and guidance into actionable analytic findings through clear, succinct written and oral summaries, tables, charts, reports or presentations, that can be understood by a variety of audiences
- Set standards related to data, data governance, project planning and execution, define approach and methodology for the team to deliver and exceed client needs
- Architect the analytic solutions; take accountability for socializing the change
- Evolve the existing Data Strategy; define how the organization can leverage data in support of making business decisions, and building a workplan that includes people, processes, and technology to make the plan a reality
- Drive innovation by testing new technology and approaches to continually advance the capability of the engineering teams
- Identify gaps, quality, process improvement, and automation opportunities, and lead such activities to execution
- Utilize a broad range of analytic approaches including predictive analytics, issue detection, trend analysis, and data visualization to best address the business priorities

- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (data science, analytics, mathematics, economics, business, statistics, engineering, or finance)
- Proven track record of developing strategic plans and deploying analytic products to improve business performance
- Proven effective data analysis and interpretation skills, able to draw and present quantitative conclusions
- Proven experience with statistical models, demonstrated understanding of different statistical methods and approaches
- Demonstrated passion for innovation and a desire to make a significant impact on the healthcare industry
- Proven expert proficiency in SQL, and at least one scripting language such as, R, or Python
- Proven track record in driving change and influence individuals at all levels of the organization and to take appropriate risks
- Demonstrated high degree of proficiency with Data Visualization / Dashboard tools (e.g., Power BI/Tableau/Looker)
Other useful skills and experience include:
- Master's Degree or a PhD in relevant field (data science, analytics, mathematics, economics, business, statistics, engineering, or finance) or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience or knowledge of cloud-based data analytics e.g. (AWS, Azure, Snowflake)
- Proven advanced experience in Machine Learning or AI model development and deployment
- Proven experience in prioritising work on multiple complex assignments with ongoing deadlines
