The Senior Data Analyst plays a key role in delivering analytics that support healthcare risk adjustment & quality prospective healthcare programs for Optum Insight. This role works closely with business and technical teams across a matrixed environment of data, technology, and global business teams. The Senior Data Analyst is hands on in analysis and reporting, while also contributing to shaping requirements, improving data quality, data architecture, and ensuring insights are delivered accurately and on time. We are looking for a curious, critical-thinking, proactive individual who takes accountability for data performance, quality, issue management, and conflict resolution, while modeling a culture of integrity, compassion, inclusion, relationships, innovation, and performance.

What you will do:

  • Partner with business process leaders to deliver actionable data insights that inform healthcare program processing and performance
  • Deliver high-quality analysis and reporting that generates new insights to support healthcare programs, operational performance, and sustainable growth
  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that are accurate, intuitive, and aligned with stakeholder and leadership needs
  • Monitor data pipelines and report outputs, proactively identifying issues, supporting root cause analysis, and contributing to automation, alerting, and reliability
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering partners to shape and support scalable data pipelines that enable reliable reporting and analytics for Data Operations
  • Document, and reinforce data quality standards for consistency, and reliability, enabling leaders to act with confidence on analytics outputs
  • Apply and uphold data governance, quality, and de-identification standards in line with company and regulatory requirements
  • Engage directly with senior leaders to clarify priorities, navigate ambiguity, and translate strategic questions into meaningful analytics and insights
  • Own prioritization of analytical demand in a complex environment, balancing competing stakeholder needs while maintaining focus on business impact, data quality, and delivery timelines

  • Degree or master's degree from an accredited university or college
  • Proven solid SQL experience for advanced querying, working with complex stored procedures, identifying data pipeline issues, & validating data for reporting
  • Demonstrated solid analytical capability, including advanced Excel proficiency with data discovery and visualization tools to identify trends, anomalies, and root causes
  • Proven experience in data analytics or business intelligence roles, delivering analysis and reporting that informs business and operational decision making
  • Proven hands-on Power BI experience, including designing, building, and maintaining dashboards and reports aligned to stakeholder needs
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with non-technical stakeholders, translating business needs into clear analytical outputs and communicating insights in plain language
  • Proven stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to surface data driven issues, drive alignment on decisions, and provide clear, accurate updates and recommendations to senior leaders
  • Demonstrated effective time management and planning skills, with experience developing and executing project plans in complex environments

Other useful skills and experience include:

  • Industry certifications in Data Management such as Data Quality
  • Accredited certification in the field of Data Analytics or similar field
  • Proven working knowledge of the US healthcare services industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge of US healthcare Risk Adjustment & Quality programs
