The B2B Payer Marketing Manager supports payer-focused marketing and sales enablement for Optum Financial's directed spend solutions. This role drives business growth by developing clear, compelling narratives that help payer organizations understand, evaluate, adopt, and realize value from our member benefits offerings. Working closely with strategy, product, sales, and account management teams, this position supports the full client lifecycle - from messaging and positioning through sales enablement to ongoing retention and renewal.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, moves comfortably across multiple workstreams, and serves as a trusted resource to cross-functional partners. They bring solid storytelling instincts, a bias toward action, and the ability to produce polished work across a range of formats and audiences.

This position follows a hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain payer directed spend messaging, positioning, and value propositions; translate product strategy, competitive intelligence, and market trends into clear payer-facing narratives
  • Bring product changes, updates, and new capabilities to market for payer audiences; develop go-to-market content, coordinate sales readiness, and ensure materials reflect the current product reality
  • Build and maintain core payer sales materials: pitch decks, solution overviews, one-pagers, battlecards, training assets, and finalist-ready presentations
  • Support national sales teams on complex payer pursuits with tailored storytelling and value articulation
  • Lead sales training sessions on new products, updated materials, selling angles, and market insights
  • Serve as a responsive partner to the field, someone sales can come to when they need something sharpened, built, or adapted for a specific opportunity
  • Develop content that supports payer client implementation, optimization, renewal, and expansion conversations, working with account management to communicate value realization to payer stakeholders
  • Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive activity - synthesizing insights into competitive briefs, talking points, and internal summaries that keep sales and product teams informed
  • Work across product, sales, account management, strategy, legal, and compliance to keep payer marketing aligned with business priorities
  • Manage intake and prioritization of payer marketing requests, balancing strategic work with time-sensitive needs
  • Maintain organized libraries of payer marketing and sales materials, including version control and legal-approved workflows

You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in product marketing, sales enablement, or B2B marketing

  • Experience working cross-functionally with sales, product, and business stakeholders
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and comfort producing polished, professional deliverables
  • Proven solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to make complex topics clear and accessible
  • Proven basic design skills or comfort with tools like Figma or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proven solid organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams with minimal direction

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in health care, financial services, or benefits-related industries
  • Experience supporting account management or client success teams with retention and growth-focused content
  • Familiarity with payer markets, Medicare/Medicaid programs, B2B buyer journeys, or consumer-directed benefits
  • Exposure to competitive analysis or market research as inputs to marketing strategy
  • Familiarity with CRM or marketing automation tools (e.g., Salesforce, Marketo)
  • Proven comfort operating in ambiguity and adapting quickly as priorities shift
