The Chief Technology Officer role for the Optum Insight Provider Market will be accountable for leading and implementing the technology vision and plan for a $4B business, whose mission is streamlining hospitals and physician's workflows using technology, data, analytics, consulting and managed services solutions.Core to the Provider Market is Optum Real.Optum Real is an AI‑powered, real‑time claims and revenue cycle platform designed to connect payers and providers in real time (before a claim is submitted) to reduce denials, rework, and administrative costs.
We are looking for a technology leader with demonstrated thought leadership in architecting and delivering large scale, complex and innovative technology solutions using advanced technologies. You will leverage your technology expertise and understanding of market trends to develop a multi-year strategic technology plan that enables the scaling and growth of our business and deliver differentiating values to our customers.You will lead a global team of over 2000 technologists and a budget of $330M.

Hybrid in MN/DC:This position follows a hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead strategic technology discussions and planning with the Provider Market CEO and executive team to drive and influence the creation of innovative technology strategy and solutions
Architect and design technology solutions to enable integration of business and technology priorities and enable the Provider Business to reach their operating objectives
Champion and implement AI-first product and engineering excellence, agility, and engineering culture
Develop and lead multi-disciplinary and high-performing teams
Collaborate across the Optum Insight (OI) technology leadership team to drive overall OI technology strategy
Foster a culture of innovation through design-thinking and utilization of DevOps, Agile, AI/ML, and automation
Understand business, market, and customer needs (in partnership with the general managers of the product area), for both today and the future
Define and analyze metrics that inform the success of products, including the feature sets, business requirements, and measures of success of an overall roadmap, aligned with business strategy, and customer needs and informed by competitive intelligence
Engage with the market (buyers, end consumers, delivery partners) to lead and manage the design of products, solutions, and service strategy that is market driven
Establish a shared product, solution, and service vision across the enterprise by building consensus on priorities leading to product execution, and ensure that the product, solution, or service is aligned with OI's brand, strategic and competitive position
Oversee the end-to-end process for the delivery of technology solutions
Attend external client meetings representing the engineering and technology discipline
Partner and guide cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of solutions from concept through launch
Participate in stakeholder planning and strategy meetings and ensure the correct parties are aware of the strategic direction, risks, progress, and results
Drive ROI and obtain value from technology related capital expenses including support for costs and benefits included in the business case
Ensure solid performance of applications, cloud infrastructure, and data center services within proper security, regulatory, and compliance guidelines
Scale engineering staff and skills to meet business growth goals
Cultivate future leaders and enable an autonomous culture
Develop and maintain relationships with appropriate technology partners (internal and external) in developing, deploying, and supporting technical solutions
Support business acquisitions by providing leadership in the evaluation of technology platforms and post-acquisition integration planning

Required Qualifications:
20 + years career within the technology profession, with demonstrated progressive accomplishments
Visionary leader with executive presence in the healthcare industry
Proven software engineering and architecture leadership experiences
Demonstrated success using a DevOps model/culture and Agile methodology to deliver solutions
Experienced in modern software engineering technologies and practices such as AI/ML, cloud engineering, micro-services, CI/CD and DevSecOps
Proven technology product development experience
Success building strong relationships with internal and external partners
History of gaining support for initiatives through influence and use of business rationale
Ability to explain complex technical issues to key stakeholders in business terms
History of building and inspiring high performing, innovative, global technology teams
Previous experience leading highly matrixed teams
Promotes teamwork and manages individual and organizational performance towards business goals and objectives
Proven ability to make and implement tough decisions
Demonstrated understanding of corporate financial disciplines - budgeting, reporting and P&L
Organizational proficiencies to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment under limited supervision with excellent follow-through on detailed tasks
Track record of presenting to C-Suite audiences
Consultative approach to building consensus

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $225,000 to $375,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
