You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.


Primary Responsibilities:

Engineering Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead 10-12 cross-functional teams (software, QA, DevOps, SRE) to deliver secure and scalable OCPN platform capabilities
  • Drive end-to-end delivery execution for committed client enhancements, new product features, and modernization efforts
  • Establish engineering best practices, coding standards, and SDLC frameworks to ensure reliability, maintainability, and security
  • Oversee planning, prioritization, and strategic road mapping in partnership with Product and Architecture

Platform Operations & Reliability

  • Own production stability, incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement across all OCPN client implementations
  • Ensure compliance with PCI, security, and regulatory requirements for systems handling sensitive payment data
  • Guide teams in improving observability, monitoring, and operational readiness

Modernization & Technology Strategy

  • Lead modernization of legacy systems, cloud migration efforts, and adoption of modern engineering practices
  • Drive the integration of AI/ML tools to optimize delivery management, quality, and engineering productivity
  • Leverage enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvement 
  • Evaluate emerging trends to inform solution design and strategic innovation

People Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Build, develop, and mentor high-performing engineering teams and managers
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning
  • Manage staffing, resource allocation, performance, and succession planning

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with business, product, operations, and security leadership to align engineering outcomes with organizational goals
  • Communicate progress, risks, and priorities to executive leaders
  • Represent OCPN engineering in strategic planning, governance, and cross-organizational forums

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles with direct leadership of 10-15 engineers, including 3-4 direct manager reports within a multi-layered organization
  • 5+ years of experience with modern software development (microservices, cloud, APIs, CI/CD)
  • 5+ years of experience with end-to-end platform accountability for reliability, stability, availability, observability and operational health of mission critical systems
  • 5+ years of experience with secure SDLC and DevSecOps practices, with experience operating in regulated environments (e.g., PCI, SOC, HIPAA)
  • 5+ years of experience leading cross functional delivery across Product, Architecture, Operations, and Security, serving as the primary engineering counterpart for senior business stakeholders on platform roadmap, delivery milestones, and operational outcomes


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with payment processing, fintech, or high-security transactional platforms
  • Experience leveraging AI/ML for engineering automation or delivery optimization
  • Solid knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern DevSecOps practices
  • Background modernizing legacy platforms and executing large-scale migration programs
  • Proven ability to influence across matrixed organizations and drive enterprise-wide initiatives
  • Proven excellent communication, strategic planning, and organizational leadership skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $134,600 to $230,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
