As Lead Technical Product Manager on OptumRx's Product Strategy & Value Delivery Team (PSVD), you will manage the end-to-end delivery of Optum Assistant, an AI platform transforming Pharmacy Benefit Services for OptumRx. You will translate complex Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) workflows into intuitive, automated solutions and lead cross-functional teams to deliver impactful, scalable AI capabilities. This role offers the chance to drive real-world innovation, enhancing member, advocate, and client experiences while streamlining issue resolution in a high-volume environment.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with an emphasis on the responsible and ethical use of AI
- Translate complex business and operational Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) problems into AI-driven solutions, partnering closely with engineering and data science teams
- Lead Agile product delivery, manage backlog prioritization, and decompose complex AI capabilities into actionable technical requirements and user stories
- Evaluate emerging AI trends and technologies to inform product solution design, strategy, and continuous innovation
- Ensure AI products deliver measurable value while meeting quality, governance, security, and compliance standards
- Leverage enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline technical workflows, automate product management tasks, and drive continuous improvement
- Drive cross-functional alignment across technical and business teams, proactively managing technical and operational risks
- Define complex test scenarios and validation requirements for PBM workflows, including multi-plan, multi-reject, and multi-carrier conditions
- Partner with engineering, testing, and data teams to ensure accurate test data availability and robust end-to-end validation coverage

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in technical product management, systems analysis, product engineering, or a similar role delivering complex software systems
- 3+ years of experience partnering with engineering, data science, or other technical teams to deliver automated, software-driven, or AI/ML-enabled capabilities, with working knowledge of APIs, microservices, and cloud-based architectures
- 3+ years of experience working with healthcare backend data structures, end-to-end claim lifecycle processes, and claim processing workflows
- Experience defining complex end-to-end test scenarios and data validation plans for multi-layered system workflows
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related technology field
- Experience within the Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) or broader healthcare industry
- Experience designing, developing, or deploying conversational AI, natural language processing (NLP), or customer-support automated platforms (e.g., virtual assistant tools)
- Understanding of secure, responsible, and ethical AI development practices, model validation, or governance protocols
- Demonstrated capability to leverage advanced digital productivity and automation tools to optimize day-to-day work processes

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $112,700 - $193,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
