As a Senior Software Engineer at Optum Technology, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-throughput applications and services across the full engineering stack. In this role, you will design, develop, and integrate AI tools and services such as intelligent assistants, semantic search, and automated decision workflows mainly focusing Oracle 26 AI DB. You will collaborate closely with architects and peers, champion DevOps continuous integration and automation practices, and leverage enterprise-approved AI tools to augment development efficiency and streamline engineering workflows.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and integrate AI tools and services such as intelligent assistants, semantic search, and automated decision workflows mainly focusing Oracle 26 AI DB
- Contribute across the full-stack engineering layer, delivering scalable architecture and design implementations from UI to database and API integrations.
- Participate in system design, architecture discussions, and delivery planning in close collaboration with senior engineers and architects.
- Advance DevOps practices by contributing to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, and containerization using Docker.
- Identify technical improvements, refactor legacy components, and apply modern engineering practices to enhance system reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Review peers' code and design proposals, clearly communicate technical concepts, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Use enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous operational improvement.
- Evaluate emerging trends to inform solution design and strategic innovation.
- Must be Available for performance tests which run at Nighttime from 8PM to 12AM CST couple of times in a month

Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience developing software applications
- 4+ years of experience developing Java / J2EE, Web Services, Spring, and Hibernate
- 3+ years of experience in CI/CD and DevOps practices
- 3+ years of professional experience do you have in stakeholder management, including building relationships, aligning priorities, and communicating with cross-functional stakeholders
- 1+ years of experience with AI/ML-driven solutions
- 1+ years of professional experience designing or implementing Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience working on large-scale, high-throughput, or distributed applications, taking ownership of key components or services
- 3+ year of experience participating in and influencing system design, architecture discussions, and delivery planning, working closely with senior engineers and architects
- 3+ years of experience demonstrating ability to identify technical improvements, refactor legacy components, and apply modern engineering practices to improve reliability, scalability, and maintainability
- 5+ years of experience using communication skills to clearly explain technical concepts, review peers' code and designs, and collaborate effectively across teams
- Strong experience with Oracle Database 19c, 23ai, or 26ai development and administration.
- Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures, functions, packages, and performance tuning.
- Experience with Oracle AI Vector Search, embeddings, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) applications.
- Familiarity with observability practices, including logging, metrics, and alerting for production systems
- Knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs), Vector Databases, Agent-Based / Agentic AI Architectures, AI-Powered Application Integration, AI Solution Design & Development, Oracle with AI & Cloud Integration, Vector & Semantic Capabilities
- Database performance tuning and query optimization.
- Data security, encryption, RBAC, auditing, and compliance practice

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
