The Senior Underwriting Consultant will support underwriting initiatives to ensure employer and payer cases are appropriately assessed from a risk perspective and priced in alignment with enterprise margin, growth, and risk tolerance objectives. This role serves as a senior individual contributor within the underwriting organization, providing expertise on some of the largest and most complex clients in the book of business.
This individual will partner closely with Sales, Account Management, Finance, and operational stakeholders to support profitable growth, retention, and underwriting excellence across the health plan portfolio. The role will contribute to underwriting strategy, risk assessment, pricing methodologies, and process improvement initiatives while serving as a trusted advisor to internal business partners.

For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Analyze and underwrite complex employer and payer opportunities, ensuring pricing recommendations appropriately reflect risk, market dynamics, and business objectives
- Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and risk analyses to support new business and retention efforts
- Provide underwriting consultation and subject matter expertise to Sales, Account Management, Finance, and leadership teams
- Review complex proposals, renewals, and financial offers and provide recommendations that support profitability and growth objectives
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through detailed analysis of utilization, claims experience, and financial performance
- Support the evaluation and implementation of underwriting policies, methodologies, and best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve underwriting issues and meet aggressive timelines
- Present underwriting recommendations and financial analyses to internal stakeholders and leadership
- Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced underwriters as needed, without direct supervisory responsibility
- Participate in strategic initiatives, process improvements, and special projects that enhance underwriting effectiveness

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of financial analysis, pricing, and/or underwriting experience, with at least 3+ years within a healthcare environment
- 3+ years of experience working for or with a Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM) or in a consulting role supporting PBM clients
- Experience building complex financial models and conducting economic analyses
- Experience underwriting financial offers for existing and prospective clients using a variety of forecasting methodologies
- Experience developing and delivering presentations and communicating effectively through both verbal and written communication
- Experience working in a cross-functional environment with the ability to quickly learn and understand new business areas
- Progressive professional experience, preferably in underwriting, finance, healthcare consulting, or a related field
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, forecasting, and ad hoc analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pricing and underwriting experience within a PBM environment
- Experience supporting specialty pharmacy products and services
- Experience presenting recommendations to senior leaders and business stakeholders
- Experience mentoring junior analysts or underwriters
- Knowledge of healthcare, pharmacy benefit, and risk management concepts
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
