Software engineering is the application of engineering to the design, development, implementation, testing and maintenance of software in a systematic method. The roles in this function will cover all primary development activity across all technology functions that ensure we deliver code with high quality for our applications, products and services and to understand customer needs and to develop product roadmaps.

These roles include, but are not limited to analysis, design, coding, engineering, testing, debugging, standards, methods, tools analysis, documentation, research and development, maintenance, new development, operations and delivery. With every role in the company, each position has a requirement for building quality into every output. This also includes evaluating new tools, new techniques, strategies; Automation of common tasks; build of common utilities to drive organizational efficiency with a passion around technology and solutions and influence of thought and leadership on future capabilities and opportunities to apply technology in new and innovative ways.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities: 

• Implement end-to-end features and user stories, including analysis, design, development, validation, deployment, and post-deployment support
• Analyze and document business logic in existing and legacy applications, and re-implement it as maintainable, well-tested software
• Design, build, and optimize computation-intensive processing - improving the runtime, scalability, and accuracy of calculation-heavy workloads
• Build and maintain validation and parity-testing frameworks that verify new implementations produce results consistent with the systems they replace
• Work with relational databases and modern data platforms to design, query, and optimize data models and pipelines
• Apply security principles and industry best practices when designing and building secure applications and APIs, including safeguarding sensitive and confidential data
• Contribute to the design and adoption of architectural patterns, engineering standards, and reusable frameworks
• Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines, code quality gates, and test automation frameworks
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues across development, test, and production environments, including correctness and precision defects in calculation logic
• Collaborate within Agile development teams, and directly with business and analytical subject matter experts, to translate domain rules into technical requirements and validated solutions
• Leverage AI tools (including Copilot and related AI Builder tools) to enhance development productivity and efficiency
• Demonstrate solid problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective collaboration across teams

Required Qualifications: 

• 4+ years of hands-on software development experience using Python, with exposure to modern front-end frameworks such as React.js
• 4+ years of experience working on modern software engineering technologies, with a solid focus on API development (RESTful services using FastAPI, Flask, Django, or similar)
• 3+ years of experience developing data-intensive or analytical applications using pandas, NumPy, or comparable libraries
• 3+ years of experience working with relational databases, including data modelling, complex queries, and query optimization
• 3+ years of experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments
• 3+ years of experience in cloud-native development using platforms such as Azure, or GCP, and working with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes)
• 1+ years of experience in applying numerical or algorithmic methods - iterative solvers, root-finding, optimization, or convergence and precision analysis
• 1+ years of experience in developing secure RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures
• 1+ years of experience in CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices
• 1+ years of experience in ability to effectively use AI-powered development tools (e.g., Copilot) to improve productivity

Preferred Qualifications:  

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
• Experience modernizing legacy or end-user-computing applications (spreadsheet- or macro-based business logic) into production software
• Experience with distributed or parallel computing frameworks (Spark, Dask, Ray, or equivalent)
• Experience with Databricks or a comparable lakehouse/data platform, including medallion (bronze/silver/gold) architecture
• Experience with data governance, lineage, quality, and access-control frameworks
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, or similar platforms
• Healthcare payer, actuarial, pricing, or financial-modelling domain experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $72,800 - $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
