The Sr Financial Consultant - Data Enablement will help drive finance and analytic efforts to develop a patient-centric model to value member touchpoints across the broader Optum landscape. Combining business acumen and technical skills, this role will support methodologies to capture complete financial impact of a member, enabling actionable, data-driven insights across Finance, Actuarial, Network, and Operational functional areas.


As a recognized subject matter resource, this role will collaborate with others to capture business requirements and translate them into production level analytic methodologies and pipelines. This role is well suited for strong technical individuals who are interested in learning the intricacies of a complex business model.  


You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively across finance, accounting, and network teams to capture business logic and translate into a transparent technical solution
  • Contribute to the development and programming of analytic methodologies and pipelines, following best practices and ensuring quality processes
  • Support the team as they navigate multiple data platforms and advise on technical capabilities and opportunities of various emerging data tools
  • Leverage independent research and internal resources to expand and support data processes including access groups, scheduling, triggering, and performance tuning
  • Solve complex business challenges by applying structured analysis and innovative thinking
  • Present complex concepts clearly and effectively to technical, operational, and executive audiences
  • Support services-focused finance and analytics work aligned to business priorities and performance objectives

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of hands-on programming experience in analytics, data, or financial modeling environments
  • 4+ years of SQL, SAS, or similar experience
  • 1+ years of Snowflake, Databricks or similar cloud platform experience
  • Demonstrated success solving complex business problems and analytical work with meaningful impact
  • Demonstrated ability to learn business nuances and understand the "why" behind processes and projects
  • Demonstrated ability to meet quick deadlines and match the level of technical rigor required for an initiative
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify highly complex topics for diverse audiences


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field
  • 1+ years of Power BI, Tableau, or similar experience
  • Experience in healthcare, payer, or managed care environments
  • Background in accounting, FP&A, or similar finance positions

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
