Aikyam is the most advanced "Identity as a Service" Platform within United Health Group that is aimed to provide a central and universal user identity for identifying and authenticating a user in the healthcare domain. It is built upon open standards like OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML 2.0 Web SSO etc. It is a highly available, reliable and scalable service hosted in public cloud. The UI Software Engineer is an individual contributor responsible for building, enhancing, and maintaining secure, performant, and accessible user interfaces for Aikyam's customer facing and administrative applications.

This role is primarily hands on, focused on UI implementation and quality, working under the guidance of senior engineers and UI leads, and contributing to enterprise identity experiences.

If you reside in the states of Minnesota and District of Columbia, you will enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid-remote role as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop frontend components and features using modern UI technologies following established UI architecture patterns, coding standards, and best practices
  • Build reusable, modular, and responsive UI components aligned to platform standards
  • Implement UI requirements based on approved UX designs and functional specifications
  • Integrate UI with backend services using REST APIs
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies  ,code reviews and incorporate feedback
  • Contribute to quality gates, testing, and release readiness under guidance
  • Work closely with Product, UX, QE, backend, and DevOps teams
  • Apply secure UI development practices for identity and authentication flows
  • Ensure UI implementations align with HIPAA, PHI, and enterprise security requirements
  • Learn and apply AI assisted engineering practices as defined by platform and UI leadership
  • Follow enterprise guidelines for safe and compliant AI usage in regulated environments

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of overall software engineering experience
  • 2+ years of hands on UI / frontend development experience
    • JavaScript / TypeScript
    • React or equivalent modern UI framework
    • HTML5, CSS3, responsive design
  • Experience building customer facing, web based applications
  • Experience with identity and authentication concepts (SSO, MFA, tokens)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in regulated or security sensitive domains (healthcare)
  • Experience with cloud hosted UI applications (AWS / Azure / GCP)
  • Experience working with identity platforms or IAM tools (e.g., Ping, Okta, ForgeRock, Azure AD)
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.x)
  • Basic understanding of web security fundamentals (HTTPS, TLS, proxies)
  • Familiarity with UI testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
  • Proven exposure to AI driven UX patterns such as guided flows or insights based dashboards
  • Proven exposure to OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, or SAML (UI integration perspective)
  • Proven solid problem solving and communication skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
