This VP, Content & Strategy role is a senior leadership position within Optum Rx marketing, responsible for defining and elevating the enterprise wide content strategy across all audiences and channels. Reporting into the SVP Marketing, the role owns the end to end approach to how Optum Rx tells its story-from digital and social content to thought leadership, events, and direct communications-and is accountable for building a high impact, scalable content capability. This is a builder role for a proven leader with deep experience developing sophisticated, multi audience content strategies, strong people leadership skills, and the ability to drive meaningful change in a complex, fast growing organization.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Set and own the enterprise wide Optum Rx content strategy, defining a unified vision that aligns to business priorities, brand strategy, and audience needs across B2B, B2C, B2Provider and B2Government segments
  • Lead a high performing, multi disciplinary content organization spanning content strategists, content management, channel leads/specialists (digital/social, direct, thought leadership, events), and content program management
  • Oversee holistic content planning, governance, and lifecycle management, ensuring content is accurate, compliant, scalable, and consistently leveraged across channels and experiences
  • Bring to life via content of value propositions, narratives, and messaging frameworks, ensuring clarity, cohesion, and alignment with product and portfolio strategy
  • Provide executive level leadership for channel strategy and excellence, establishing best practices, standards, KPIs, and innovation roadmaps for digital/social, direct marketing, thought leadership, and event content
  • Lead content delivery oversight-ensuring operational rigor, on time execution, quality control, accessibility compliance, and cross functional alignment with Creative, Campaigns, Product, MarTech, Legal, and Compliance
  • Advance modern content operations, scaling AI assisted workflows, metadata/taxonomy frameworks, reusable content structures, and automated processes to accelerate production and personalization while maintaining human oversight
  • Own performance reporting and analytics across all content channels, providing insights, optimization recommendations, and executive ready narratives to improve engagement, efficiency, and marketing ROI
  • Shape and steward the centralized content infrastructure, ensuring a robust repository, content standards, version control, and enterprise wide reuse to maximize consistency and reduce redundancy
  • Serve as the enterprise advocate for best in class content, guiding portfolio wide content strategy, elevating thought leadership impact, and ensuring Optum Rx delivers a compelling, differentiated content experience at every audience touchpoint

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in content strategy, content operations, digital marketing,
  • 10+ years of leadership experience managing multi disciplinary content teams (content strategists, channel leads, content operations)
  • Deep experience with multi channel content delivery, including digital/social, direct marketing, thought leadership, and event/executive engagement content
  • Demonstrated understanding of AI enabled content workflows, automation, and emerging content technologies-with commitment to Responsible AI use and compliance
  • Proven expertise in developing enterprise level content strategies, value propositions, and narratives for multiple audiences (B2B, B2C B2G, B2Provider)
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic vision with operational excellence, overseeing resource planning, prioritization, budget management, and performance reporting
  • Demonstrated success leading content governance, lifecycle management, taxonomy/metadata systems, and centralized content repositories in complex organizations
  • Proven exceptional executive level communication, storytelling, and influence skills, with ability to align cross functional leaders around unified content strategies
  • Demonstrated track record driving measurable content performance using analytics, KPI frameworks, testing/optimization, and data based decision making

Preferred Qualification:

  • Experience within healthcare, technology, or regulated industries

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $159,300 to $273,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
