The VP, Technology Product Management - FinTech owns the technology product strategy and the associated enterprise P&L performance for a portfolio of Optum Financials consumer-facing and enterprise financial platforms.

This leader sets direction for innovative, scalable, and secure solutions at the intersection of financial services and healthcare - including payments, financial accounts, lending, and treasury management products that improve customer experience, affordability, healthcare integration.

Operating as an enterprise steward, this role partners with business segment P&L owners to translate strategy into outcomes at scale, shaping market-facing FinTech products that deliver revenue growth, margin expansion, and improved customer experience.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

Enterprise Strategy & Product Ownership

  • Owns the multi-year FinTech product strategy and portfolio roadmap aligned to enterprise priorities and market opportunity in partnership with segment P&L owners and product management
  • Translates enterprise strategy into clear technology product priorities, sequencing investments across growth, risk, cost, and resilience
  • Shapes market direction across financial-healthcare integrated solutions, including payments, financial accounts, lending, and treasury management services and affordability solutions
  • Resolves trade-offs across portfolios, balancing innovation with regulatory, operational, and financial constraints

P&L Ownership & Financial Stewardship

  • Leads the technology product P&L accountability, in partnership with business segment P&L owners, for the FinTech product portfolio, including revenue, margin, cost structure, and long-range financial performance
  • Partners with product management to set direction for pricing, monetization, and commercial strategy, including transaction-based and value-based models
  • Facilitates investment prioritization and capital allocation decisions in partnership with product management and finance
  • Balances growth, customer outcomes, and cost discipline, ensuring sustainable and scalable value realization

Customer & Market Leadership

  • Operates as a trusted partner to clients and executives, leading strategic engagement with employers, health plans, providers, ecosystem partners, and internal partners
  • May represent Optum technology externally, shaping client, consultant, and market perspectives on healthcare-financial innovation
  • Influences enterprise technology decisions without positional authority, aligning stakeholders around product and growth strategy
  • Brings external market signals and trends into FinTech product strategy and prioritization

Technology Product & Delivery Leadership

  • Owns product outcomes across platforms and ecosystems, not individual initiatives
  • Sets direction for modern product operating models, ensuring alignment across product, customer experience, engineering, data, and operations
  • Ensures scalable, secure, and resilient platforms supporting regulated financial and healthcare transactions
  • Leads through senior leaders (VPs/Directors), establishing accountability for consistent, high-quality delivery outcomes

AI, Innovation & Ecosystem Integration

  • Shapes enterprise adoption of AI, automation, and digital capabilities to transform financial and healthcare experiences 
  • Expands platform ecosystems through partnerships with FinTechs, banks, payment networks, and healthcare stakeholders
  • Sets direction for build/buy/partner decisions to accelerate innovation and scale
  • Focuses innovation on enterprise value creation, not point solutions or experimentation

Governance, Risk & Operational Excellence

  • Acts as a business-oriented technology executive accountable for value realization from technology and product investments
  • Ensures compliance, security, and risk management across financial and healthcare regulatory environments 
  • Optimizes operating models and cost structures to enable scale, resiliency, and flexibility
  • Uses data and transparency to drive enterprise-level decisions and performance management

People, Culture & Leadership

  • Builds enterprise-grade leadership capability through layered leadership, not direct execution
  • Shapes culture through leader behavior, driving accountability, inclusion, and psychological safety
  • Leads workforce evolution, aligning talent, skills, and digital capabilities to enterprise needs
  • Sets talent strategy for technology product management capability and leadership depth

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of executive leadership experience in product management, FinTech, or healthcare financial platforms
  • Proven track record of owning or contributed to P&L performance and delivering revenue growth and profitability at scale
  • Deep expertise across one or more financial domains (payments, financial accounts, lending, and treasury management)
  • Experience owning enterprise product portfolios and leading through senior leadership layers
  • Demonstrated ability to influence C-suite stakeholders and enterprise strategy in highly matrixed environments 
  • Experience operating in regulated environments across financial services and/or healthcare
  • Solid track record of building, scaling, and evolving leadership teams and capabilities
  • Expertise in modern product operating models, data-driven decision making, and platform-based delivery

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $200,400 to $343,500 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable
