Optum is a global organization that leverages technology to improve health outcomes at scale. As a Release Train Engineer (RTE) / Agile Coach, you will play a critical role in driving program-level execution, agile transformation, and delivery governance across large, complex initiatives. This role ensures alignment between business and IT, enabling predictable and high-quality delivery.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Program Delivery and Execution
    • Lead end-to-end delivery orchestration across multiple Agile teams within a Release Train
    • Ensure predictable execution by managing timelines, dependencies, and delivery milestones across teams
    • Perform impact analysis for changes across systems, applications, and delivery plans
    • Identify, track, and mitigate risks, issues, and dependencies impacting program delivery
    • Drive release planning, execution, and governance across multiple concurrent initiatives
  • Agile Coaching and Transformation
    • Act as a servant leader and Agile coach for teams and stakeholders, promoting Agile best practices
    • Facilitate and ensure adherence to Scrum ceremonies (PI Planning, Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Reviews, Retrospectives)
    • Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives, metrics, and feedback loops
    • Coach teams on scaling Agile (SAFe) principles and practices
  • Stakeholder and Communication Management
    • Act as a central coordination point between Business, Product, Engineering, QA, and leadership teams
    • Ensure solid stakeholder alignment and communication across program increments
    • Provide clear reporting on program health, risks, and delivery status
    • Facilitate cross-team and cross-functional decision-making
  • Rally and Agile Tooling Management (Must Have)
    • Manage and govern user stories, features, and backlog using Rally
    • Ensure proper user story lifecycle management including prioritization, refinement, and tracking
    • Track program metrics, sprint progress, and release readiness using Rally dashboards
    • Enable transparency across teams through effective use of Agile tools
  • Coordination and Dependency Management
    • Coordinate across multiple Agile teams and value streams to manage interdependencies
    • Ensure smooth collaboration between business and IT teams for delivery execution
    • Facilitate ART-level meetings such as ART Sync, PI Planning, and program reviews
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent
  • 8+ years of experience in Agile delivery, program management, or project management
  • Solid hands-on experience as:
    • Release Train Engineer / Agile Coach / Scrum Master (Scaled environment)
    • Mandatory experience in:
    • Rally (Agile tool) - User story, backlog, sprint/release management
  • Solid experience in:
    • Project management and program delivery governance
    • Stakeholder management across business and IT teams
    • Impact analysis and risk management
    • Coordinating large, distributed teams
  • Proven experience working on large-scale enterprise systems / programs
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe)
    • Scrum ceremonies and Agile lifecycle

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) certification (RTE / SA / SPC)
  • Experience in healthcare payer systems / claims domain
  • Exposure to tools like JIRA, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps
  • Experience driving Agile transformation at enterprise scale
