We are seeking a skilled AWS Java Production Support Engineer to manage, monitor, and support critical applications in a cloud-based environment. The ideal candidate will have solid expertise in Java applications, AWS services, production support operations, and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Elastic APM, Datadog, along with experience in incident management using ServiceNow.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Production Support & Incident Management
- Provide L2/L3 production support for Java-based applications hosted on AWS
- Monitor application health, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and performance
- Handle incident, problem, and change management using ServiceNow
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures
- Application Monitoring & Observability
- Utilize monitoring tools such as:
- Splunk (logs and analytics)
- Elastic APM (application performance monitoring)
- Datadog (metrics, traces, dashboards)
- Set up alerts, dashboards, and performance baselines
- Proactively identify system anomalies and performance bottlenecks
- Utilize monitoring tools such as:
- AWS Cloud Operations
- Manage and support applications on AWS using services like:
- EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, ECS/EKS
- Troubleshoot cloud-related issues such as scaling, networking, and deployments
- Ensure security and best practices in AWS environments
- Manage and support applications on AWS using services like:
- Java Application Support
- Support and debug Java/J2EE/Spring Boot applications
- Analyze logs, thread dumps, and heap dumps to resolve issues
- Collaborate with development teams on bug fixes and improvements
- Automation & Continuous Improvement
- Automate repetitive operational tasks using scripts (Shell, Python, etc.)
- Improve monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide after-hours support as required
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years in production support or SRE roles
- Hands-on experience with monitoring tools:
- Splunk
- Elastic APM
- Datadog
- Experience with ServiceNow for incident/ticket management
- Solid understanding of:
- Linux/Unix systems
- SQL/NoSQL databases
- REST APIs and microservices architecture
- Solid expertise in:
- Java / Spring Boot
- AWS Cloud (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, Lambda, etc.)
- Good knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git, etc.)
