Railroad Accounts is seeking a motivated intern to support business teams by documenting operational and business processes and gaining exposure to railroad-specific functions. This role is classified as Casual Temporary employment during the summer of 2026, and is ideal for an undergraduate junior or senior with strong analytical and communication skills who is interested in healthcare, team dynamics, or business analysis. The role will work with subject matter experts to learn railroad account operations and help translate workflows into clear, well-structured documentation.

This position is required to work onsite at the office daily in Hartford, CT (Asylum Street), 40 hours per week (8am-4pm eastern time) between June 2026 and August 17, 2026.

Responsibilities include:

  • Learn the Billing & Enrollment landscape - Gain an understanding of team structure, systems, and terminology. Develop a glossary, process inventory, and a catalog of key processes and terms
  • Map Senior Billing Analyst workflows - Create high-level process maps of core monetary functions. Identify key inputs, outputs, and systems, and help prioritize critical processes
  • Document key processes - Apply the Watch → Do → Explain approach to draft standard operating procedures (SOPs) for leader review. Review and test existing documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Validate and improve SOPs - Execute tasks using only documented procedures, identify gaps or inefficiencies, and revise documentation for clarity and usability

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in business management; junior year completed or entering senior year preferred
  • Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
  • Experience with using Microsoft Word, Excel etc. (ability to create, edit, save, send, sort, filter, enter data, and use basic formulas in spreadsheets)
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, including ability to capture and organize information clearly and accurately
  • Proven detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

Preferred Qualification:

  • Proven willingness to learn industry-specific processes and terminology

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $22.00 to $24.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
