Schedule ancillary testing and procedures in a medically correct sequence for the Sleep Diagnostic Center.  Prepare authorization for SDC testing to be done Internal and External.  Utilizing various EMR system applications for appointment scheduling and reporting purposes.  Knowledge of the medical field with emphasis on guarantor accounts and financial responsibility to maximize accurate self-pay and collection agency balances is required. Confirm and reschedule appointments.  Give patients appropriate instructions, directions and other applicable information.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • 40%    DEPARTMENTAL RESPONSIBILITES:
    • Schedule appointments, test and procedures in a medically correct sequence for patients
    • Furnish patients with printed schedules of procedures and instructions
    • Using automated scheduling system and authorized scheduling policies and procedures, accurately exercise good judgment in determining the sequence of SDC procedures
    • Use critical thinking skills while working in a high-volume area and be able to explain the exam and give instructions for tests and procedures performed in the SDC
    • Work well with patients, SDC staff, sleep medicine staff and Physicians
    • Work with SDC Lead Ancillary Schedule for work-in, and External facilities to accommodate patients need
    • Collect all the necessary patient and insurance information to allow for insurance verification
    • Assist with cancellations and rescheduling of appointments for the SDC
    • Submit CRM'S to PAA's for patient eligibility and UR review for SDC procedures and approvals
    • Coordinate with Sleep medicine assistant on all patients having procedure for all internal and external Facilities
  • 20%    CUSTOMER SERVICE:
    • Maintain active professional relationship with patient's staff by assessing needs and level of satisfaction with SDC
    • Demonstrate a polite, courteous and friendly manner at all times
    • Maintain a professional attitude while working in a high- volume area assisting not only SDC other departments and sites
    • Maintain high level of organizational skills
    • Enhance Medical terminology and knowledge of different exams with special instructions
    • Maintain Computer proficiency
    • Works with contract vendors and Utilization Management Dept. for authorization as needed
    • Demonstrate Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Mission and Values
  • 10%    SDC DUTIES:
    • Act as receptionist at sleep diagnostics center - greeting customers and vendors
    • Other duties as assigned
  • 5% ADMIN DUTIES:
    • Provide administrative support for site management, physician and technicians
    • Copying, faxing and filing, letters and correspondence
    • Attend all staff and departmental meetings and performs other duties as assigned by the site management staff
  • 20%    COLLECTIONS:
    • Collect VPP for SDC procedures
    • Collect bad debt and payment on account according to protocol
    • Document accurately in patient financial account concerning payments
    • Assist and document payment plans per protocol
  • 5% Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of direct face to face customer service experience
  • 1+ years of insurance medical billing and appointment scheduling experience
  • CPT/ICD coding and Medical Terminology
  • Basic PC literacy
  • Successful completion of the EPIC PM Front Desk Class and Hospital Charge Capture
  • Typing skills 40 wpm with 10 or fewer errors and basic math abilities
  • Proven ability to work efficiently in a high-volume area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of Pulmonary or Sleep Medicine experience
  • Insurance knowledge

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.15 to $28.80 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
