Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead architecture design and technical direction for Railroad web platforms built on Microsoft and Azure technologies
  • Manage, mentor, and oversee developers while maintaining hands-on involvement in complex engineering and architecture efforts
  • Drive application modernization initiatives, including migration of legacy .NET and mainframe CICS platforms to modern .NET and cloud-native Azure services
  • Define and guide distributed and microservices-based architectures to improve scalability, resilience, and deployment flexibility
  • Own technical decisions related to Azure App Services, Azure Functions, hosting topology, scalability, high availability, disaster recovery, and operational readiness
  • Lead secure integration design across web applications, APIs, identity platforms, databases, batch workloads, and enterprise services
  • Improve observability, performance, logging, and telemetry to support highly reliable production systems
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions
  • Lead architecture, design, and code reviews to promote best practices, secure coding, and maintainability
  • Provide leadership during production incidents, platform stability initiatives, and cross environment troubleshooting
  • Support engineering excellence through CI/CD, release management, platform stability, and continuous improvement practices
  • Coach developers, support career growth, and contribute to performance feedback and evaluation activities
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of enterprise experience designing, developing, and supporting Microsoft-based web applications
  • 3+ years of prior knowledge and hands-on experience working with Railroad applications
  • Experience/Expertise in Azure with focus on App services and plans, messaging and storage interactions, MVC .Net Core (C#.Net) and Angular
  • Experience architecting and delivering Azure-based enterprise platforms using Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, and Key Vault
  • Experience designing distributed systems and microservices architectures for large-scale enterprise use
  • Experience leading technical teams, guiding architecture decisions, and overseeing delivery across multiple developers
  • Solid background with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, source control, and automation tooling
  • Solid hands-on expertise with .NET / .NET Core / ASP.NET, C#, Web APIs, and modern Microsoft development frameworks
  • Demonstrated application security experience including authentication/authorization, secrets management, vulnerability remediation, and secure development practices
  • Demonstrated ability to support business hours with flexibility for deployments, major incidents, and operational needs


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Azure or Microsoft certifications
  • Experience supporting healthcare, regulated, or security-sensitive enterprise platforms
  • Experience with Azure private cloud or hybrid environments (Azure Stack / Azure Stack Hub)
  • Experience driving platform modernization initiatives impacting large user populations
  • Exposure to AI-assisted development tools or integrating AI-enabled capabilities into enterprise solutions
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, managed identities, application monitoring, performance tuning, and secure configuration

  • Solid architectural communication skills, able to influence technical direction across teams and stakeholders
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver complex initiatives
  • Collaborative mindset across product, engineering, infrastructure, security, and operations
  • Comfortable operating in complex, distributed, and evolving enterprise environments
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, guide architecture decisions, and continuously improve engineering practices
