Optum Insight's patient engagement technology called Optum PRIME is an advanced decision intelligence platform leveraging patient generated health data to drive high value care. The platform powers outcome measurement, digital engagement, decision augmentation, and regulatory reporting across multiple clinical domains and serves as an engine driving technology-enabled whole person health programs such as OA Care. PRIME sits at the center of Optum's clinically interactive solution, care transformation strategy and will integrate with other platforms across the Clinical Decision Support (CDS) suite to provide coordinated AI-enabled agentic workflows, advanced decision support, referral optimization, enhanced patient engagement pathways, and technology-enabled value‑based care models.


The Lead Product Manager will design, develop and manage activities for patient engagement technologies including PRIME and OA Care from planning through production, release and end-of-life. They will be responsible for management of the full product lifecycle with a technical focus, including the strategy, design, development, management and end-of-life of new, existing or acquired products. The position will leverage market insights, emerging technology developments, and trends to understand market/customer needs, as well as identify new opportunities or adjust current product offerings. The manager will align the broader subject matter expertise with knowledge of business use cases and technical acumen.

The position will be accountable for delivering product performance in alignment with expectations, and updates changes to the product portfolio to improve competitive position and produce optimal product performance to meet customer and market needs. The manager will be accountable for the P&L, and responsible for cross-functional stakeholder management, to include (but not limited to) design, engineering, scrum teams, business leaders etc., functioning as technical expert with a fluency in development concepts and modern development practices.

As a Lead Product Manager (SG29), you will define and drive the multi‑year roadmap for PRIME and OA Care, enabling scaled adoption across Optum, affiliated entities, health systems, and payers. This role is a senior individual‑contributor leader accountable for cross‑portfolio alignment, platform evolution, technology direction, customer outcomes, and business performance.

Specific Core Tasks

  • Engage appropriate enterprise-wide stakeholders to enable awareness and alignment
  • Lead the product across its entire lifecycle using defined processes and industry best practices
  • Know the market, to effectively identify and frame new technology products
  • Define solutions with high-value requirements, a compelling business case, clear product positioning, priority and strategic impact
  • Partner with stakeholders to enable successful development, delivery, and adoption of technology solutions
  • Manage ongoing product performance, expansion, financial health, roadmap and end-of-life decision as appropriate
  • Serve as the product champion and apply deep expertise to credibly represent, manage and engage with business(es)


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Product Strategy & Roadmap (Aligned to SG29 Product Discipline)
    • Own the product strategy, multi‑year roadmap, and vision for the PRIME platform across modules (outcome measures, digital engagement, insights/analytics, decision support)
    • Provide guidance and direction to ensure platform strategy, architecture, and roadmap execution are aligned to business goals and market needs
    • Balance business priorities with technology enablers to advance the platform and communicate costs, fees etc  while minimizing technical debt
    • Partner with Business and Engineering leadership to develop and measure OKRs that drive meaningful outcomes
    • Work with delivery leadership teams to align Engineering / Architecture expectations of Product team
    • Influence and drive prioritization across Product Development Roadmap, Product Backlog, and Sprint Backlog
    • Clearly understand crossproduct workflow / LOB relationships; learn from and adopt other products' successes
  • Customer Focus & Market Leadership (SG29 Customer Focus)
    • Ensure Optum PRIME and OA Care solve the right problems the right way by deeply understanding market segments, users, clinicians, and enterprise clients
    • Own improvement of user and customer metrics (clinical, process, engagement utilization, experiential metrics) across multiple PRIME product areas
    • Identify customer‑centric initiatives that improve outcomes across portfolios and drive their adoption
    • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across segments, engineering, implementation, and clinical leadership
    • Work with Business Leads and Engineering Leads to ensure OKR's are created and measured
    • Communicate effectively to build relationships with all senior stakeholders across product teams and Market Segments
  • Technical Leadership (SG29 Technical Acumen)
    • Ensure adherence to modern engineering patterns, DevOps practices, and integration best practices across PRIME and OA Care
    • Influence & drive prioritization across the Product Development Roadmap
    • *Product Backlog, and Sprint Backlog
    • Understand engineering workstreams sufficiently to decompose complex problems, clarify trade‑offs, and translate them into actionable requirements
    • Collaborate with engineering, data science, and architecture teams to shape scalable PGHD ingestion, scoring engines, trending, analytics, AI/ML‑assisted workflows, and interoperability with CDS, EHRs, and external systems
    • Influence Definition of Done, testing approaches, automation standards, and agile product development and ensure it is clearly understood and articulated to stakeholders
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive strategic and outcome-based roadmaps
    • Provide guidance on future‑state architecture, transition planning, modernization, and management of technical debt
    • Manage capacity against demand and advocate for best practices, tools, technologies during product development
    • Expertise in one or more Agile Product Development tools (e.g., Aha) use to track and report product development ideas, features, and metrics
  • Cross‑Portfolio Integration & Enterprise Alignment
    • Work effectively across Optum's broader CDS ecosystem to minimize overlapping work, foster reuse, and align roadmaps across multiple products
    • Evangelize PRIME and OA Care capabilities and ensure integration across solutions like, Clinical Assist AI, Provider Guide, Order Utility and next‑generation digital engagement frameworks
    • Represent PRIME and OA Care in portfolio‑level discussions, ensuring consistency, interoperability, and cross‑product value creation
  • Leadership & Culture (SG29 Leadership & Culture)
    • Serve as a strategic coach and thought leader for adjacent product teams; uplift product culture and drive adoption of best practices across the portfolio
    • Influence multi‑portfolio product decisions by anticipating stakeholder needs and proactively addressing gaps
    • Demonstrate strategic thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to drive consensus across complex, ambiguous environments and facilitate product maturity within organization
    • Build strong collaborative relationship-driven culture, negotiate win‑win outcomes, and cultivate a collaborative, strategic forward‑thinking product culture while diffusing conflict

Required Qualifications:

  • 11+ years of product management and/or product support experience, including ownership of complex technical platforms
  • Experience working with clinical stakeholders, health systems, digital health programs, or payer‑driven value‑based care initiatives
  • Proven success delivering enterprise-grade SaaS, data, analytics, PGHD, clinical decision support, or healthcare technology solutions
  • Proven solid technical fluency across APIs, data pipelines, system integrations, cloud architectures, and modern software development practices
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership, drive consensus, and manage competing priorities in a matrixed environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and / or substantive familiarity with PGHD and outcome measurement frameworks, NQF/CMS programs, or data standards
  • Experience and / or substantive familiarity with AI‑enabled decision support, digital therapeutics, clinical programs, or workflow‑integrated engagement platforms
  • Experience collaborating across global teams and delivering products in multi‑region deployment models
  • Solid understanding of enterprise product strategy, platform modernization, and multi‑product orchestration
  • Proven professional background or degree in computer science or engineering
