Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Administrative Functions
    • Interprets health policies and regulations to nursing staff and employees
    • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies related to clinical services provided by non-physician/non-mid-level providers
    • Serves as a liaison between physicians, managers, and staff members
    • Serves as a liaison with the billing department, ensuring proper billing and precertification
    • Maintains medical equipment and ensures it functions properly
    • Engages in studies and investigations related to improving nursing care, disease management, patient flow, and patient satisfaction
    • Inventories, orders and maintains medical supplies
    • Meets with pharmacy and medical supply representatives
    • Maintains employee health files
  • Patient Care Functions
    • Interviews patients regarding medical concerns
    • Measures and documents vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height
    • Documents patient reported health issues in EMR
    • Obtains and documents patient medical histories
    • Performs routine, in-scope, medical procedures as requested
    • Prepares patients and treatment rooms for exams
    • Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment
    • Hands instruments and materials to the physician as directed
    • Transcribes the physician's notes into the patient's medical record
    • Cleans and sterilizes instruments
    • Maintains a clean work area
    • Keeps exam rooms cleaned and stocked with needed medical supplies
    • Reviews physician orders and lab requests and follows up as needed
    • Communicates test results to patients as directed
    • Processes prescriptions as approved and directed
    • Assists in patient education with approved educational tools, periodicals, flyers, and handouts
    • Assists with Department of Transportation, FMLA, and Medical Disability application forms
    • Manages/responds to patient phone calls and patient portal messages
    • Maintains all Practice Health and Safety standards
    • Fulfills the requests of patients and physicians
    • Keys data into the computer to maintain patient records
    • Routes necessary paperwork associated with patient referrals
    • Contacts other medical practices as needed to make referrals
    • Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials
    • Pre-certifies exams and collects pre-certifications from managed care
    • Prints films; retrieves and returns outside films
    • Faxes reports
    • Prints and distributes schedules
    • Maintains and reports monthly statistics and data to management
  • Supervisory Functions
    • Assists in aligning people and projects to achieve initiatives
    • Works with direct reports to develop goals and objectives
    • Works with direct reports to establish performance standards for work assignments, monitors work status and progress including goals and objectives
    • Values cultural diversity and other individual differences in the workforce, ensuring that the organization builds on these differences
    • Ensures employees are treated in a fair and equitable manner
    • Complies with all EEO obligations and responsibilities
    • Develops staff through coaching, mentoring, rewarding, training, and guiding

    • Surrounds self with highly capable people. Assists in managing employee issues and resolving grievances
    • Assists to interview, hire, and orient direct reports
    • Assists in completing performance evaluations for direct reports on a timely basis
    • Notifies Manager or Regional Director of possible employee performance or behavior problems, may assist in disciplinary or termination process
    • Assists all staff in the interpretation of policies and procedures
    • Assesses current and future staffing needs based on organizational goals
    • Utilizes compensation data provided by the People Team
  • Business Functions
    • Maintains PHS in all aspects of the clinic
    • Monitors expenditures in support of programs and policies
    • Identifies / recommends cost-effective approaches
    • Uses efficient and cost-effective approaches to integrate technology into the workplace and improve work processes
    • Supports and implements organizational technology changes
    • Ensures quality of work performed by direct reports in area(s) of responsibility
    • Commits to a focus on continuous improvement of workflow processes and procedures
  • Other Functions
    • Attends meetings and participates on committees as requested
    • Attends and completes assigned training
    • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as directed
    • Complies with OSHA regulations
    • Complies with all company policies and procedures regarding HIPAA and handling of PHI
    • Complies with all company policies and procedures regarding handling of cash or other payments
    • Assists provider by documenting quality measures within EMR

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Medical Assistant certified with 3+ years of Medical Assistant experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPR certification
  • Prior leadership role


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform various tests and procedures, complete medical records, and communicate with physicians, staff, and patients
  • Knowledge of equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation
  • Knowledge of safety requirements to provide instructions and to recognize hazardous conditions
  • Ability to read and understand information about instrumentation in the medical field
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to interact and communicate with a variety of people, both on a one-on-one basis and in meetings and group presentations; must be able to relate to and work with ill, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile people
  • Ability to anticipate and react calmly to emergency situations
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to follow direction
  • Ability to think logically in order to troubleshoot, analyze situations, and make appropriate decisions
  • Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail systems, and web-based programs
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously


Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment
  • Ability to stand and sit for periods of time and to move constantly throughout the workday
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, move, and/or carry up to 25 pounds
  • Good speaking and listening skills
  • Strong sensory skills, such as visual acuity, hearing, and dexterity
  • Ability to perform focused work with close attention to detail
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, copiers, fax machines, and phones
  • Ability to interact with others, both in person and through phone, e-mail, and written correspondence
  • This position involves working with hazardous materials
  • This position is classified as having occupational exposure to blood and other infectious materials

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $49,700 - $88,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
