The Non‑Emergent Medical Transportation (NEMT) Manager is a full-time role dedicated to the PathWays program. This position is responsible for ensuring the Contractor maintains an effective, reliable, and compliant transportation strategy that meets all member needs. The NEMT Manager provides oversight of the NEMT broker (if applicable), proactively addresses transportation challenges, and serves as a key liaison between the State, transportation vendors, providers, and members.

If you are located within 60 miles of Indianapolis UHC office, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges. 2 days per week in the office.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain an effective NEMT strategy to ensure timely and appropriate member transportation
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of the Contractor's NEMT broker, including performance monitoring and issue resolution
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential transportation disruptions through creative problem-solving and contingency planning
  • Build, maintain, and strengthen a comprehensive transportation network capable of serving diverse member needs
  • Conduct audits, reviews, and performance evaluations of NEMT brokers and transportation vendors
  • Respond to and resolve complaints and concerns from medical providers, facilities, drivers, members, and other stakeholders
  • Promote clear, consistent communication between the Contractor and the State regarding NEMT operations, challenges, and outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable contractual, regulatory, and program requirements related to non-emergent medical transportation
  • Analyze transportation data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement in access, quality, and efficiency
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support overall program goals and member satisfaction

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in healthcare operations, transportation management, or care coordination
  • Demonstrated experience managing vendors or brokers, preferably within NEMT or managed care environments
  • Solid knowledge of non-emergent medical transportation models and member access requirements
  • Proven ability to manage complex operational issues and resolve stakeholder concerns effectively
  • Proven excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Medicaid or government-sponsored healthcare programs
  • Leadership experience in building or managing transportation networks
  • Familiarity with transportation compliance standards and audit processes

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
