The Marketing Specialist II is responsible for developing and executing marketing campaigns and materials across many service lines throughout the business, with a heavier focus on select specialties, as well as for managing provider transitions for the NY/NJ market. This position works closely with the Provider Marketing team and internal operations teams to develop and deploy various marketing materials and strategies based on business needs. The Marketing Specialist is an integral member of our marketing team and plays a key role in creating clear patient communications about care team changes and transitions and working alongside our clinicians to help them build their practices. Additionally, an ability to be responsive, communicate clearly, and develop effective marketing strategies with our medical providers and internal operations stakeholders is a key component of this role.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with experience creating and implementing new marketing strategies. This person should be comfortable collaborating and communicating with clinical personnel, business partners and administrative leadership including operations, IT, real estate, human resources, medical affairs, practice managers and others to gain alignment and execute agreed upon objectives. Given the nature of the work, this person must also be able to manage sensitive information and patient- or provider-facing communications in a thoughtful, professional and confidential manner.
Candidate must be a well-organized, highly motivated, self-starter with a passion for communicating and driving results. The ideal candidate should thrive on proactively seeking new insights, finding creative solutions and measuring results.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage patient-facing and internal-facing marketing materials across multiple service lines within Optum Medical Care's NY/NJ market, with a heavier emphasis on priority specialties
- Develop, manage and execute various marketing print and digital materials, and patient communications
- Communicate clearly and consistently with stakeholders, including physicians and advanced care practitioners, as well as practice managers, regional directors, and other marketing team members
- Leverage automation and AI tools to support efficient workflow processes and proactively improve team productivity
- Lead provider transition meetings working with cross functional teams to ensure business needs are met
- Develop clean and professional PowerPoint slide decks to aid in presenting information clearly to stakeholders and other marketing team members
- Lead assigned projects from start to finish, ensuring smooth and timely delivery
- Be highly organized, leveraging project-management tools to track status, due dates, and to collaborate with other marketers on team projects
- Oversee managing delivery of new provider assets such as headshots, videos and provider profiles
- Work with other marketing team members to help enhance process efficiencies and create new workflows as needed
- Manage routine monthly, weekly and quarterly internal and external communications that support providers and service lines across the market
- Collaborate with internal and external cross-functional teams, developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders
- Manage legal review and approval of newly developed patient-facing communications for assigned service lines and priority specialty care areas
- Understand and adapt to the Optum culture

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED with 5+ years of project management experience
- 3+ years of experience in marketing, advertising or related field
- 3+ years of project management experience
- Proficiency using Microsoft tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Adobe Acrobat or similar tools for PDF editing
- Demonstrated solid spoken and written communications skills
- Demonstrated solid organizational skills
- Reside in the NYC, Long Island, Hudson Valley or New Jersey region to support market familiarity and occasional regional needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with marketing project management systems (Workfront/Asana)
- Experience working with providers and senior leadership
- Agency experience
- Keen attention to detail
- Proven self-starter with the ability to balance and execute multiple projects concurrently

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $72,800 - $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
