The Managed Care Billing Representative position is responsible for verifying and updating patient insurance coverage information, as required, via portal/RTE/contacting carrier. Assist Optum Insights/IT or specific Clinical staff with questions and issues regarding insurance coverage. As a team member you will be expected to help identify any inefficiencies in existing workflows and give input in creating potential new workflows involving managed care functions with management approval.

This position is full-time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm PST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

We provide on the job training aligned to your schedule.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Respond to email requests for account updates related to Facets/roster plans and/or other insurance coverage issues from Optum Insights/IT and non-office based Clinical Staff as a priority daily.
  • Resolve coverage/claim issues within assigned work queues in practice management system. 
  • Notify management of trends of issues, as necessary.
  • Review and understand insurance explanation of benefits/remittance advices and terminology.
  • Contact the insurance company to check eligibility.
  • Resolve questions and issues, escalate complex issues up to management.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and other teams.
  • Work other projects as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • 1+ years of recent medical billing experience
  • Experience with computers and Windows based programs including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel (View, Create, sort, filter)
  • Ability to work full-time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm PST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of EPIC-PB Resolute 
  • Knowledge of full revenue cycle

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Reside within Pacific Time Zone
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $18 - $32 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
