Position in this function receives direction operationally from the RN Supervisor. May provide direction and support to other Cardiology Technician team members. Delivers direct patient care, and monitors heart rhythm patterns of patients in the Cardiology Clinic for testing purposes. Collaborates with other Cardiology team members to optimize health outcomes and patient satisfaction.  Ensures standards of care are implemented and are in compliance with all state and federal regulations, standards of practice, SMA and UHC policies and procedures. Monitors and maintains equipment, as well as, specific departmental supply ordering responsibilities. Maintains patient logs and databases.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Works with RN Supervisor to coordinate patient flow within the Cardiology Clinic, and assumes other clinic responsibilities as directed by supervisor
  • Proficient in all areas of testing for a Cardiology Technician
  • Effectively communicates EKG abnormalities and/or negative testing outcomes to the Cardiology team physicians and RN's.
  • Maintains compliance with job specific proficient requirements
  • Ensures all completed readings are sent to medical records, and at the direction of the Cardiology Team Physician all abnormal readings are sent directly back to the referring Physician
  • Acts as a resource and provides guidance to other Cardiology Technicians and support staff

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma and/or equivalent
  • BLS certification 
  • 2+ years of experience administering exercise stress testing
  • Experience with 24 hour Holter Monitor application/scanning, performing EKGs and event recorders
  • Knowledge and recognition of EKG rhythms, arrhythmias, and rhythm disturbances
  • Knowledge of medical terminology specific to Cardiology
  • Excellent understanding of Cardiology pathophysiology and diagnostic procedures
  • Proven ability to recognize signs and symptoms of Infact and/or Ischemia
  • Proven excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and critical thinking skills
  • Basic computer skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree 
  • Current ACLS certification or ACLS certification within six months from hire date


Working Conditions:

  • Varied settings including exam rooms, laboratory, and reading room
  • Sometimes works in close quarters
  • Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, ionizing radiation and other conditions common to radiology setting


Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $17.98 to $32.12 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
