Ready to lead complex delivery in a role that makes a real difference? Join Optum as a Senior Project Manager and help deliver initiatives that improve how healthcare works for the people who rely on it every day.

At Optum, we use data, technology, and deep healthcare expertise to build smarter, more connected systems. In this role, you will lead high-priority initiatives, bringing together Agile ways of working, structured delivery management, and solid stakeholder partnership to keep programmes moving forward.

You will act as a hands-on delivery leader across multiple concurrent initiatives, guiding teams, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring delivery stays on track from planning through to release. This is an excellent opportunity for a pragmatic project professional who thrives in fast-paced, matrixed environments and knows how to create clarity, pace, and momentum.

You will work closely with business partners, technical teams, and US based stakeholders to ensure delivery outcomes are achieved while continuously improving ways of working.

Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin or Letterkenny office and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.

What you'll do:

  • Lead and facilitate Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand ups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives
  • Coach teams on Agile principles, flow, WIP management, and continuous improvement practices
  • Support teams operating in Scrum or Kanban, adapting practices pragmatically to team maturity and context
  • Actively identify, escalate, and resolve impediments impacting team delivery
  • Promote consistent Agile behaviours and ways of working across teams
  • Own end to end delivery for assigned initiatives, from intake through execution to release
  • Translate business demand into clear delivery plans, milestones, and dependencies
  • Manage risks, issues, assumptions, and mitigations across the delivery lifecycle
  • Provide regular, concise status updates to senior and executive stakeholders
  • Partner with technical teams to develop high level designs, estimates, and delivery options
  • Support prioritization and governance processes with business stakeholders
  • Act as the primary delivery point of contact for business and technical stakeholders
  • Coordinate across a matrixed delivery environment to ensure alignment and timely execution
  • Balance BAU, production support, and value stream delivery work where required
  • Contribute to broader delivery maturity and ways of working initiatives

You will be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role, as well as providing development for other roles you may be interested in.

What you'll bring:

If you don't meet every single requirement, don't let that hold you back - we're just as excited about potential as we are about qualifications and experience, and you could be exactly who we're looking for.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Proven significant experience delivering work in Agile environments
  • Proven ability to operate in both Scrum Master and delivery ownership capacities
  • Demonstrated solid stakeholder management and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated experience managing delivery risks, issues, and dependencies
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Demonstrated solid analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and present insights clearly

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Agile certification (e.g., Scrum.org, SAFe, or equivalent)
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience using workflow management tools such as Rally or Jira
  • Proven experience working on data, analytics, or technology driven initiatives
  • Proven experience within healthcare, pharmacy, or other regulated industries

Please note you must currently be eligible to work and remain indefinitely without any restrictions in the country to which you are making an application. Proof will be required to support your application.
