Position Highlights & Primary Responsibilities:

Key Clinical Responsibilities

  • Conduct age‑appropriate, bio‑psycho‑social and developmental assessments for children, adolescents and young adults following referrals from pediatricians, psychiatrists, medical social workers or behavioral health clinicians.

  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence‑based, goal‑oriented treatment plans that incorporate developmental stage, family systems, school functioning, and cultural context.

  • Provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy using evidence‑based pediatric interventions.

  • Deliver crisis intervention services and assess safety concerns, including risk of harm, abuse, neglect, or acute psychiatric needs, in accordance with child protection and reporting requirements.

  • Maintain a minimum utilization rate of 90% of bookable clinical hours.

Integrated and Collaborative Care

  • Collaborate closely with pediatric primary care providers, child psychiatrists, and multidisciplinary team members to support integrated behavioral and medical care.

  • Participate in case conferences, team huddles, and multidisciplinary treatment planning meetings.

  • For hospitalized pediatric patients, support emotional adjustment before and after discharge, assist with care transitions, and educate families regarding treatment recommendations.

  • Interpret psychiatric and behavioral health treatment plans to parents and caregivers, addressing concerns and reducing barriers to engagement and continuity of care.

Care Coordination and Community Collaboration

  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of community‑based pediatric behavioral health resources, school‑based services, and social support systems.

  • Coordinate referrals to external providers and community resources as clinically indicated.

  • Support families in navigating insurance coverage, including Medicaid, Medicare, and third‑party payers, and assist with decision‑making related to treatment options.

Documentation, Quality, and Professional Development

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and clinically appropriate documentation in the EMR, including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.

  • Prepare clinical, utilization, and quality‑related reports as needed for administrative and program evaluation purposes.

  • Partner with supervisors to identify barriers to access, improve departmental workflows, and enhance service delivery.

  • Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives and recommend policy or practice changes to improve pediatric behavioral health services.

  • Maintain licensure and clinical competencies through continuing education, with a focus on child and adolescent behavioral health best practices.

  • Provide consultation, education, and in‑service training to pediatric medical staff on behavioral health conditions, trauma‑informed care, and available services.

Required Qualifications:

  • Clinical Psychologist OR LICSW OR LMHC

  • Unlimited Licensure in the state of Massachusetts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within an integrated model

  • CANS Assessor certification

  • Minimum 3 years practice experience

The salary range for this role is $69,100 to $103,800 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
