The Pharmacy Technician will assist in various pharmacy activities under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Your responsibilities will include preparing, delivering, and restocking medications; performing order entry; procuring drugs; billing. You will carry out your job duties according to written procedures and guidelines based on pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements.
Schedule: This position is scheduled to work 40 hours a week during the week Monday through Friday 8-hour day shifts between 9:00am to 7:00pm and rotating Saturdays 9:00am to 3:00pm.
About the Facility: Methodist is a not-for-profit, community-based healthcare system. Methodist has two full-service campuses just 14 miles apart. Northlake is the urban campus in Gary while Southlake Campus in Merrillville is located near one of the Midwest's busiest retail areas. Combined campus bed capacity is 625 plus nurseries. With the latest in technology and outstanding services, this hospital system is the leading healthcare provider in the region. This outpatient clinic pharmacy is located within Methodist Hospital Northlake on the 1st floor in close proximity to the main entrance and Emergency Department.
About the Pharmacy: This pharmacy will service discharged Methodist Hospital inpatients, Methodist Hospital outpatients and employees and will have an active 340B program, administer vaccinations, utilizes ePrescribe, performs patient chart reviews and medication therapy management, along with some compounding. The pharmacy hours are Monday-Friday 9a-7p and Saturday 9a-3p.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare and dispense medications by measuring, counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
- Process prescription orders accurately, including entering patient and prescription data into pharmacy systems
- Assist pharmacists and healthcare providers by gathering necessary information and supporting workflow efficiency
- Process and coordinate specialty medication prescriptions, often for complex or chronic conditions
- Manage prior authorizations and insurance requirements, working closely with payers and providers
- Coordinate patient onboarding and refills, ensuring adherence to therapy schedules
- Handle medication distribution logistics, including cold-chain management and direct-to-patient shipping
- Maintain detailed documentation and reporting, meeting REMS, FDA, and manufacturer program requirements
- Provide high-touch patient support, addressing non-clinical questions and navigating access barriers
- Ensure compliance with specialty pharmacy regulations, accreditation standards, and quality metrics

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Indiana Licensure/Registration/Certification requirements
- Recent experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy
- Proficient computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office
- Proven effective communications skills; verbal and written

- PTCB/CPhT
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.15 to $28.80 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
