The Director of Pharmacy Fulfillment Operations provides site-level leadership for home delivery and specialty pharmacy fulfillment, overseeing pharmacy dispensing and warehouse operations. This role is accountable for operational performance, regulatory compliance, financial results, and delivering a high-quality consumer experience aligned with UHG values and Optum's mission.
This position sets strategic and tactical direction for fulfillment operations, ensures execution of standard operating procedures (SOPs), drives continuous improvement through KPI-based performance management, and leads change initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and throughput. The Director builds and develops high-performing teams through coaching, accountability, and engagement, while partnering cross-functionally to support end-to-end pharmacy operations.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Senior Director of Fulfillment Operations to set and execute site-level operational, financial, and growth objectives
- Lead pharmacy and warehouse teams to meet performance, quality, regulatory, and consumer experience goals
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and internal regulatory requirements in partnership with PIC, Compliance, and Legal
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity, workflow efficiency, and service levels
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Front-End Operations, Customer Service, and Network Planning to resolve issues and standardize best practices
- Oversee inventory control across fulfillment centers, including receiving, storage, cycle counts, shipping, returns, and disposal
- Lead adoption and effective use of fulfillment and pharmacy technology systems (DOMS, WMS, PCS, TMS)
- Develop, engage, and retain talent through performance management, leadership development, and employee relations in partnership with Human Capital
- Represent Pharmacy Operations on client-facing and member-related issues as needed

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (business or healthcare preferred)
- 5+ years of leadership experience in fulfillment, distribution, manufacturing, or pharmacy operations
- Demonstrated ability to lead large teams, manage KPIs, and operate in regulated environments
- Proven solid communication, collaboration, and execution skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Registered Pharmacist or Pharm.D
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
- Experience leading large-scale operations (100+ employees)
- Experience in highly regulated industries
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $134,600 to $230,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
