UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Director of Omnichannel Communications Strategy to lead the design and execution of integrated communications initiatives across owned, earned, shared, and paid channels.
Reporting to the Vice President of Digital Media, this role focuses on translating enterprise priorities into coordinated communications campaigns that drive measurable outcomes across audiences and platforms.
Working within the digital strategy and infrastructure established by the VP of Digital Media, the Director will help ensure communications initiatives are intentionally designed to move audiences from discovery to engagement to action - aligning messaging, content, and channel activation across a complex communications environment.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design Integrated Communications Campaigns
- Translate enterprise priorities into audience-first communications strategies that drive measurable outcomes
- Design campaigns that align messaging, audience behavior, and channel activation
- Ensure communications initiatives are structured to move audiences from discovery to engagement to action
Orchestrate Activation Across Channels
- Coordinate communications activation across owned, earned, shared, and paid channels
- Ensure social, web, media, and other channels are used intentionally and cohesively within campaigns
- Partner with adjacent teams - including social media and media relations - to align campaign execution across platforms
Lead Editorial and Content Strategy
- Guide enterprise editorial planning to ensure content supports business priorities and audience needs
- Ensure content strategies support both reputation objectives and campaign outcomes
- Partner with digital platform teams to ensure content experiences align with audience behavior and user experience
Align Communications With Digital Strategy
- Work closely with the VP of Digital Media to operationalize enterprise digital strategy within communications campaigns
- Ensure communications initiatives fully leverage digital platforms, tools, and analytics capabilities
- Collaborate with digital and product teams to align messaging with user experience and platform capabilities
Support Channel Governance and Coordination
- Help define the strategic role of major communications channels within integrated campaigns
- Establish planning frameworks that guide how communications initiatives activate across multiple channels
- Promote disciplined use of owned channels, ensuring the corporate website and other platforms are used strategically rather than as passive publishing destinations
Measure Campaign Performance
- Define campaign-level KPIs aligned with business outcomes
- Partner with digital analytics teams to evaluate performance and identify opportunities for optimization
- Translate performance insights into recommendations for improving future communications initiatives
Lead Teams and Build Capability
- Lead content and communications teams responsible for campaign development and execution
- Manage agency partners and vendors supporting communications initiatives
- Foster a culture of strategic planning, collaboration, and disciplined execution

Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or digital strategy
- Demonstrated ability to design integrated communications campaigns across multiple channels
- Experience translating business priorities into audience-focused communications strategies
- Demonstrated solid editorial judgment and storytelling ability
- Experience operating in large, matrixed organizations
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and align diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated familiarity with digital platforms, content strategy, and social media activation
- Comfort operating in regulated or compliance-sensitive environments

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $134,600 to $230,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
